  • Patent number: 10137647
Abstract: Methods for manufacturing three-dimensional fiber fabrics and three-dimensional component preforms include clamping at least two edge regions of an overall convex body made a fiber fabric and then reshaping at least one to-be-reshaped region of the overall convex body into a concave region. Devices for manufacturing three-dimensional fiber fabrics and three-dimensional component preforms include a workpiece carrier for supporting the overall convex body, a clamping device that clamps the at least two edge regions of the overall convex body and a re-molding tool that re-shapes the at least one to-be-reshaped region of the overall convex body into the concave region.

  • Patent number: 9782926
Abstract: A laying head for manufacturing a three-dimensional preform includes an inlet configured to feed in a plurality of dry rovings. A fiber conveying device simultaneously and mutually-independently conveys, in a fiber supplying direction, the rovings fed-in via the inlet. An outlet is arranged downstream of the fiber conveying device in the fiber supplying direction and simultaneously lays the plurality of rovings on a workpiece carrier to manufacture the three-dimensional preform. A fiber-cutting device is disposed downstream of the fiber conveying device and upstream of the outlet in the fiber supplying direction and cuts the rovings. A nozzle applies a medium onto the rovings. A slit-shaped through gap of the nozzle has a height is equal to the height of the dry rovings in the thickness direction plus a margin that is sufficiently small so as to cause the medium to be forcibly embedded into the dry rovings.

  • Patent number: 9718233
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a fiber layer or a component perform includes yieldably tensioning a plurality of yarns in a tensioning plane such that each yarn is separately and individually held in a yieldable manner. Then, a workpiece carrier is moved through the tensioning plane in a perpendicular direction thereto such that the yarns contact the workpiece carrier and respectively bend according to the contour of the workpiece carrier. If a predetermined tensile force on one or more of the plurality of yarns is exceeded, then an additional length of such yarn(s) is supplied from a reserve and/or a coil to cover the workpiece carrier. Then, the ends of the yarns are fixed along an edge of the workpiece carrier.

  • Patent number: 9409356
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a three-dimensional preform for a structural component made of a fiber composite material includes simultaneously laying a plurality of dry fibers on a workpiece carrier having a contour that corresponds to an intended three-dimensional shape of the perform and then fixing the fibers on an edge of the workpiece carrier. These steps are repeated in accordance with a predetermined fiber laying pattern until the three-dimensional perform has been completely formed. In addition, between each repetition, the fibers are cut beyond a segment of the fibers fixed on the edge of the workpiece carrier. After the three-dimensional preform has been completely formed, the three-dimensional preform is removed from the workpiece carrier and transferred to a subsequent manufacturing step. An apparatus configured to perform this method is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20140103571
Abstract: A method for manufacturing fiber layers and/or component preforms from fibers is taught, comprising the steps a) Tensioning a plurality of filaments (20) in a tensioning plane (E); b) Moving a workpiece carrier (1) through the tensioning plane (E) in a direction substantially perpendicular to the tensioning plane (E); and c) Fixing the filaments on the workpiece carrier (1); and d) Repeating the steps a) to c) to form the fiber layer and/or the component preform.
