Abstract: The device for cutting sheet material length-wise includes a knife holder assembly which can be linked to a cutter bar. The knife holder assembly has a support body and a cutter head which carried a circular cutting knife and which can be adjusted vertically in relation to the support body. The knife holder assembly also has a connecting plug assembly for connecting the support body to the cutter head. The direction of connection extends in the plane of the circular cutting knife.

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for longitudinally dividing sheet material, said apparatus comprising a cutter bar (1) that is oriented crosswise to the movement direction of the sheet material and is provided with a guide (7) on which knife holders (2) are positioned such that they can be displaced. The knife holders are respectively provided with a immobilizing brake (18), comprising at least one movable brake block (18.1, 18.2), which acts via at least one force means (21) upon a parallel braking surface (20.1, 20.2), arranged so as to extend in longitudinal direction on the cutter bar. The force means is designed to immobilize the knife holder to be positioned ob the cutter bar (1) during the operation, wherein the force exerted by the brake block is oriented in the guide plane defined by the guide. The device is further provided with a positioning device (10) that is guided along the cutter bar (1) for positioning the individual knife holders (2).

Abstract: The invention relates to a blade holder for a device for dividing a material web (10) in longitudinal direction, said blade holder comprising a basic body (2) that can be secured on a cutter bar (M) of the device. The blade holder further comprises a blade carrier (3; 23), which can be moved relative to the basic body (2) and on which a circular blade (8; 22) is positioned rotating and which is connected to an adjustment drive (4; 24) for moving the circular blade (8; 22) from the idle position to an operating position where it is pushed against an associated rotating counter blade (9; 28) of the device. In addition, the blade holder is provided with an impact absorber (11) that is effective between the adjustment drive (4; 24) and the circular blade (8; 22) and has a high compliance to a force effective in press-on direction and a low compliance to a force effective counter to the press-on direction.

Abstract: A knife holder for holding a knife head has a circular wrapper cutter with a blade rotatably mounted in the knife head for engagement with a lower cutter to cause lengthwise separation of a material web. The knife holder has a base body for positioning the knife head and is mounted to a knife holder bar. A tie bar moves the knife head between a resting position and a cutting position where an area of the blade is exposed and is operatively engaged with the cutter. A protective hood covers at least a portion of the circumference of the circular wrapper cutter and is movable relative to the circular wrapper cutter between an operating position where the blade is exposed and a protective position where the protective hood covers at least a side of the blade.
