  • Publication number: 20100175452
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for hot rolling and for heat treatment of a strip (1) of steel. To make it possible to produce high-strength and very high-strength strips having satisfactory toughnesses more economically in a continuous production plant, the process provides the steps: a) heating of the slab to be rolled; b) rolling of the slab to the desired strip thickness; c) cooling of the strip (1), with the strip (1) having a temperature above ambient temperature (T0) after cooling; d) rolling up of the strip (1) to produce a coil (2); e) rolling off of the strip (1) from the coil (2); f) heating of the strip (1); g) cooling of the strip (1) and h) transport of the strip (1) to a further destination, with the strip (1) having a temperature above ambient temperature (T0) before heating as per step T).

  • Publication number: 20100132910
Abstract: A method for the detection and classification of surface defects on continuously cast products using topographical information about the appearance of continuously cast surface defects and/or flaws are determined with respect to their exact position, evaluated with respect to their location and dimensions, and eliminated in accordance with the evaluation prior to further machining of the product, or are prevented by optimizing the process. The defects and/or flaws on the slab surface of the continuously cast preliminary product are detected and are stored with respect to their exact position and a detection of defects and/or flaws on the finished product is carried out and stored with respect to their exact position, and in that the information from the preliminary product is then compared with the information from the surface inspection on the finished product.

  • Publication number: 20090301157
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a system for the production of hot-rolled strip silicon-alloy steel for further processing into grain-oriented sheets, such as electrical sheets, wherein a cast product, in this case a thin slab, for example, with a maximum thickness of 120 mm, is subjected to thermal pretreatment and to a subsequent rolling process on a hot-rolling line to set a desired recrystallization state. The invention proposes an intake temperature (Tin) of the cast product (2) into the hot-rolling line (9a or 9b) of at least 1200° C., and preferably in excess of 1250° C., which should be controlled during pretreatment by adding at least one preheating stage (3) and one intensive heating stage (6) to ensure the final rolling temperature (TFR).

  • Publication number: 20090260728
Abstract: A method for producing hot-rolled strip from austenitic stainless steels. In a first step, a cast product is subjected to a rolling operation in a rolling mill with a finishing train, and, in a second step, a heat treatment is carried out to prevent susceptibility to corrosion, especially intergranular corrosion due to chromium carbide precipitation. To establish the final rolling temperature (Twe), a run-in temperature (Tein) of the cast product into the finishing train of the rolling mill that is above 1,150° C., and preferably above 1,200° C., is established by a multistage heating process, especially a two-stage heating process, which comprises a preheating stage and an intensive heating stage, and the heat treatment is carried out by directly utilizing the rolling heat.

  • Publication number: 20090151821
Abstract: Compared to conventional steel products, polyphase steels have a significantly improved combination of resistance and ductility and are therefore becoming more and more important—especially for the automobile industry. The currently most important steel groups for the automobile industry are dual phase steels and TRIP steels. The production of different polyphase steel resistance categories, carried out directly on a hot strip, for meeting various requirements, requires a highly extensive know-how and firstly a corresponding adaptation of the alloy elements. According to the invention, a heat treatment (30) with a variable heating temperature and heating duration is carried out following the actual production of polyphase steels with a standard analysis and a standard process execution, whereby almost any combination of different materials or combination of properties (height of yield stress, level of tensile strength) can be adjusted.

  • Publication number: 20090095438
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the continuous casting of slab, thin slab, bloom, preliminary section, round section, tubular section or billet strands (1) and the like from liquid metal in a continuous casting plant (2) in which metal discharges perpendicularly downwards from a mould (3), wherein the metal strip (1) is then guided vertically downwards along a perpendicular strand guide (4) and is cooled in the process, wherein the metal strip (1) is then deflected from the vertical direction (V) into the horizontal direction (H) and wherein mechanical forming (5) of the metal strip (1) is effected in the final region of the deflection into the horizontal direction (H) or after the deflection into the horizontal direction (H).
