Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing an electrode suitable for the sensitive and/or specific electrochemical detection of an analyte in an aqueous first liquid, said electrode being a composite electrode, a printed electrode or a carbon electrode which is superficially contacted with a hydrophobic second liquid prior to detection, and with the proviso that the electrode is not produced from a non-curing paste consisting of mineral oil and conductive particles only.
