  • Patent number: 6081811
Abstract: The present invention relates to a new database handling protocol for function changing of data from an old database (202) to a new database (204). The protocol solves those problems that occur when large quantities of data shall be converted from one database to another database. The new protocol is divided into different phases. A specification phase involves creating data which specifies the configuration of the new database (204). A declaration phase (A) involves creating conversion directives, writing these directives and inserting the directives into a conversion record storage block (208). A read-in phase (B) involves reading the conversion directives into an operating system (210). A read-out phase (C) involves reading data from the existing database into the operating system. A conversion phase (D) involves converting data in accordance with the conversion directives. An insertion phase (E) involves inserting converted data into the new database.

  • Patent number: 4946085
Abstract: A deckle-edge-simulating apparatus generally comprising a conveyor system for transporting a web of paper through the apparatus, and a novel deckle-edge-simulating assembly operatively associated with the conveyor system. The deckle-edge-simulating assembly generally includes a configured transport roller or anvil in association with a deckling fixture. The anvil is disposed beneath the web of paper, and includes one or more circumferential grooves in its surface. The deckling fixture includes a blunt-edged blade extending from and between a pair of nip forming rollers disposed on either side of the blade, and into one of the grooves of an anvil. As the web of paper passes across the anvil, the blunt-edged blade operates to burst the fibers of the paper to create a simulated deckled edge. The nip forming rollers serve to firmly hold the web of paper in position during this deckling procedure.

  • Patent number: 4762313
Abstract: An apparatus for conveying sheets including a first conveyor and a second conveyor. The first conveyor conveys sheets in a first direction and the second conveyor conveys sheets in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction. A mechanism is provided for transferring sheets conveyed by the first conveyor to the second conveyor. This mechanism includes a star wheel mounted at the longitudinal end of the first conveyor such that its longitudinal axis is disposed substantially transverse to the first direction and substantially parallel to the second conveying direction. In this manner, a sheet conveyed by the first conveyor is received intermediate the radial arms of the star wheel, brought into alignment with the second conveyor as the star wheel rotates and then can be transferred onto the second conveyor by a reciprocating structure.

  • Patent number: 4750730
Abstract: An arrangement for separating of individual sheets from a stack of sheets, this arrangement comprising a rotatable pulley close to the uppermost sheet, which as a system of ducts connectable to a source of vacuum, with one or more openings which open out onto the periphery of the pulley, and an endless belt driven slip-free round the pulley with through-perforated holes which are arranged so as to coincide with the said opening of openings on the pulley to form suction elements to make possible the lifting off of sheets, one-by-one, from the stack.

  • Patent number: 4669644
Abstract: A method and apparatus of trimming a travelling web of paper along the longitudinal direction of the web comprising transporting the web through a trimming station and continuously trimming said web in said station, wherein said method comprises supporting a portion of said web on a support surface in said station such that a portion of said web to be trimmed off overhangs an edge of said support surface, contacting said overhanging portion of said web with a travelling endless member which crosses the edge of the said support surface to trap the overhanging portion of the web between the endless member and a tearing support member adjacent said edge to shear said overhanging portion continuously from the web.

  • Patent number: 4629638
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of sheetlike or weblike material which is the carrier of markings apparent in transmitted light. The markings being produced in that sheets or webs of paper with marking of the desired type printed onto them are laminated to one another with the print-carrying surfaces facing towards one another and that the lamination is carried out with a thin plastic layer.

  • Patent number: 4409117
Abstract: Detergent compositions stable to chlorine separation are described, which as main constituents contain alkali metal phosphate, alkali metal silicate, a surfactant and granulate chlorinated triazine trione, the granules of the chlorinated triazine trione being coated with a thin layer of a hydrophobic substance. The surface-treated chlorinated triazine trione which constitutes an agent for producing the composition, is also described as is the use of the composition as a machine dish washing detergent or industrial detergent.

  • Patent number: 4379014
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of packing containers. The container body of the packing container is manufactured by spiral winding of a monoaxially molecular-oriented polyester film. The polyester film is spirally wound onto a mandrel to form a tube with the edge zones of successive turns of the strip overlapping in a continuous joint. The material is sealed within the edge zones by means of surface fusion. The invention also relates to a packing container manufactured in accordance with the method.
