Abstract: A rotary gas compressor and vacuum pump apparatus which utilizes a central rotor with a slot formed therein to slidably receive a piston eccentrically connected onto a disk which covers the slot to form a cylinder is disclosed. The distance between the rotor axis and disk axis is equal to the distance between the disk axis and the off-center shaft axis, with all axes being parallel. Upon rotation of the disk, the rotor rotates at one-half the rotational velocity of the disk causing the piston to reciprocate in the cylinder, with gas flowing into the increasing cylinder volume and being compressed and discharged in the decreasing cylinder volume. This cyclic process continues with continued rotation of the central rotor.

Abstract: A gear assembly with roller-cam contact by a cam gear with adjacent teeth forming a notch which defines a lobular periphery and a roller gear with a plurality 10A of rotatable rollers 10 is disclosed. Upon rotation, a roller rollingly contacts one of the sides of the lobular periphery and rollingly travels along the lobular periphery to rollingly contact the remaining side of the lobular periphery and with at least one of the teeth of the cam gear being in rolling contact with both a roller in an approach phase and with a roller in a recess phase to provide mechanical communication between the roller gear and the cam gear. A method of manufacturing the cam gear and the roller gear is also disclosed.

Abstract: A compressor-pump apparatus utilizing a cam gear 13 with a plurality of teeth 14 and a roller gear 21 with a plurality of rotatable rollers 10, with the gears being in mechanical communication is disclosed. A housing 18 having an inlet port 19 and an outlet port 20 and an interior wall 18C which substantially encloses the cam gear 13 and the roller gear 21. Upon rotation of the roller gear, each roller sequentially rollingly contacts the housing to thereby trap at least a portion of fluid present in the inlet port 19 in a pocket 12 which is formed between adjacent rollers 10B and a portion 18B of the interior wall 18C of the housing 18 between adjacent rollers 10B.
