    Abstract: An apparatus and method for setting transmit power of a compact Base Station (BS) in a wireless communication system are provided. In the apparatus and method a measurer measures a signal strength corresponding to each of one or more neighbor BSs while operating in a Mobile Station (MS) mode, a receiver receives a signal strength corresponding to each of the one or more neighbor BSs measured by one or more MSs from the corresponding one or more MSs, and a self-configuration controller sets a target signal strength based on the signal strength corresponding to each of the one or more neighbor BSs measured in the MS mode and controls a transmit power so that the signal strength corresponding to each of the one or more neighbor BSs measured by the one or more MSs substantially reaches the target signal strength.

The method includes receiving information, which indicates success or failure in receiving a packet transmitted in a previous frame, from Mobile Stations (MSs); and decreasing an offset value for changing a CINR value in a link table of each MS when Acknowledgement (Ack) is received as the information indicating success or failure in receiving the packet, and increasing the offset value when a signal received as the information indicating success or failure in receiving the packet is other than the Ack. Accordingly, there is an advantage in that a link table adaptive to a channel condition can be obtained.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is an antenna device for use with a portable wireless terminal having a main body, and a sub-body slidably coupled thereto, with a first antenna mounted in the main body and a second antenna mounted on the sub-body. The second antenna is selectively exposed to the outside as the sub-body moves slidingly on the main body. Conventional sliding-type terminals incorporate an antenna device in its main body that is interfered with by user body parts, thereby causing deteriorated performance. The antenna device of the present invention improves performance by using an additional second antenna mounted on the sub-body of the terminal to improve transmitting/receiving signal quality of the terminal. Furthermore, as such an antenna device is incorporated inside a sliding-type terminal or a pop-up type terminal, it is possible to eliminate risk of damage and to diversify the design of the terminal.
