  • Patent number: 8675954
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an image processing apparatus includes a first setting unit, a second setting unit, and a specifying unit. The first setting unit detects a position of at least a part of an object in an image so as to obtain, for one pixel or each of a plurality of pixels in the image, a first likelihood that indicates whether the corresponding pixel is included in a region where the object is present. The second setting unit obtains, for one pixel or each of a plurality of pixels in the image, a second likelihood indicating whether the pixel is a pixel corresponding to a 3D body by using a feature amount of the pixel. The a specifying unit specifies a region, in the image, where the object is present by using the first likelihood and the second likelihood.

  • Publication number: 20120274749
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a stereoscopic video display device displays images for a plurality of view point directions on a displaying device while switching between the images at predetermined time intervals. The stereoscopic video display device includes a calculator configured to calculate a crosstalk amount of a first image for one view point direction, which is an image to be corrected, by using a pixel value of the first image, a pixel value of a second image for a view point direction different from that of the first image, the second image being an image to be displayed at a time before the first image, and characteristics data including response characteristics of the displaying device; and a corrector configured to correct the first image by using the crosstalk amount.

  • Publication number: 20120113094
Abstract: According to an embodiment, an image processing apparatus creates a depth map representing distribution of depths of pixels in an image. The apparatus includes an area detecting unit configured to detect an area of a vertical object included in an image; a base depth adding unit configured to add a base depth to the image, the base depth being a basic distribution of depths of pixels in the image; and, a depth map creating unit configured to acquire at least one depth of a vicinity of a ground contact position of the vertical object from the base depth added to the image, and create the depth map by setting the acquired depth onto the base depth as a depth of the area of the vertical object.

  • Publication number: 20120113117
Abstract: According to an embodiment, an image processing apparatus includes a detecting unit configured to detect at least one object included in an image; a selecting unit configured to select a depth model to be a base of information about depth of the object in accordance with a property of the object; a segment unit configured to segment an area of the object detected from the image; and a depth map creating unit configured to create a depth map representing a depth of the image. The depth map creating unit arranges the depth model at a position on the depth map corresponding to a position of the segmented area of the object in the image, compares an area of the depth model and the area of the object, and gives a corrected depth value to a position not superimposed on other.
