  • Patent number: 7610393
Abstract: A quality of service session is established between a correspondent node and a mobile node. The mobile node has a home address in a home network is temporarily connected at a care-of address in a foreign network. A modified reply message is generated in the foreign network. The modified reply message has a source address of the mobile node's care-of address and a destination address of the correspondent node. The modified reply message is then transmitted. A capable of supporting such a quality of service session is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7149194
Abstract: A mobile telephone system is provided with a new architecture for dealing with voice internet protocol traffic. Real time traffic from mobile stations (22) is routed by a public land mobile telephone network internet protocol core (20) directly to one of two media gateways (28,32) respectively serving a plain switched telecommunication network/integrated services digital network (26) and an internet protocol backbone (30) without passing through the usual general packet radio system (GPRS) specific gateway.

  • Patent number: 7002935
Abstract: A real time data transmission method is used in a network in which a real time media gateway is provided to allow access to the internet backbone in addition to the usual GPRS specific gateway. The method involves changing the header in a real time data stream as it passes through the network so that it can pass directly to the real time gateway without passing through the GPRS specific gateway. This ensures that the data stream travels along a more direct route and shortens the headers used in the data stream in the process.

  • Patent number: 6842456
Abstract: A method is provided of directing an internet protocol (IP) packet to a mobile node. The mobile node has a home address in a home network and is temporarily connectable in a foreign network having a foreign agent. The IP packet has a header portion including the destination address to which the IP packet is to be sent. The method comprises the steps of: receiving, in the home network, the IP packet including a destination address corresponding to the home address of the mobile node; modifying the IP packet by removing the home address of the mobile node from the header portion of the IP packet and replacing it with the foreign agent care-of address, and appending a mobile node identifier to the IP packet, and transmitting the modified IP packet.
