  • Publication number: 20160123364
Abstract: A clip for assembling corners of hollow members such as the rails and stiles of an extruded aluminum door. The clip has a double L shape. A portion of the clip inserts into the hollow of a first member and is attached thereto. Another U-shaped portion defining the bottom of the double L extends into the other hollow member for attachment thereto to form a sturdy joint without welding. The first member may have a slot that receives the clip and the clip may be shaped to conform to the internal surfaces of one or both members. Clips may be used at each corner.

  • Patent number: 8884452
Abstract: A sun shade or light guide generates electricity via a wind-driven movable element, such as a turbine, which drives an electrical generator/alternator. The turbine and/or a fan may be interposed between shade elements for driving one or more generators. The generator may be driven directly or may be mechanically coupled to the movable element. Electricity produced by the generator may be stored in a battery and or used immediately.

  • Patent number: 8656980
Abstract: A light shelf for controlling solar radiation that impinges on a building has a panel with a pair of support brackets. The brackets run along tracks secured to the building and engage the tracks to assume a variety of elevations. The brackets can be moved independently, allowing the panel to be tilted and may have pivot joints to facilitate tilting. The panel may be mounted to the brackets in a way that allows the panel to translate horizontally. The panel may have a plurality of elements that can be adjusted to change the surface area and may be automated to respond to ambient conditions.
