    Abstract: A wheel disc for vehicle wheels manufactured by flow forming, in particular for passenger cars, which has a stretched disc transition surface subsequently provided with ventilation holes and a radial outer disc edge. All ventilation holes are located in the transition surface and are attached by punching or cutting. In order to improve the competitiveness of vehicle wheels made of steel or other materials suitable in particular for cold forming compared to cast vehicle wheels made of aluminium, the transition surface is provided with several changes in material thickness generated during flow forming by displacement of the tool and, viewed in the radial direction, effecting a wave structure on the surface facing the tool during flow forming. The surface provided with the wave structure can in particular form the non-visible inner side of a vehicle wheel, but can also form the visible side. In addition, the opposite surface can also be provided with a wave structure.

A transition portion is defined between the well flank and the inboard bead seat. The transition portion has a circumferential corrugated profile having a circumferentially concave-shaped outboard groove connected to the well base at a first tangency point, a circumferentially convex-shaped ridge directly connected to the outboard groove at a second tangency point, and a circumferentially concave-shaped inboard groove directly connected to the ridge at a third tangency point. The inboard groove is connected to the inboard bead seat at a fourth tangency point.

Tabs extend perpendicular to the axial portion at each of the first vents. A second cover is secured to the rim and extends radially inward from the rim in a direction perpendicular to the axis. A plurality of second vents are in the second cover and arrayed circumferentially about the axis. The first and second covers are on opposite sides of the wheel. Each of the first and second covers has a greater extent in a radial direction perpendicular to the axis than in an axial direction parallel to the axis.
