  • Publication number: 20240109131
Abstract: A cutting tool includes a main body having a working end and an attachment end. A seat is disposed in the working end to receive a cutting insert. A main body passageway for the communication of fluid is disposed in the main body and has a passageway end disposed in the working end. A cutting insert is disposed in the seat. A nozzle is disposed in the passageway end. The nozzle has a nozzle body including front and rear surfaces. The front surface faces generally toward the seat, and the rear surface faces generally away from the seat. The nozzle body defines a plurality of nozzle passageways that extend therethrough between the front and rear surfaces. Each nozzle passageway has a fluid outlet at the front surface.

  • Publication number: 20240075543
Abstract: The invention relates to a coolant turbine for a rotary cutting tool, a rotary cutting tool, a coolant turbine module, and a method for operating a rotary cutting tool. The coolant turbine comprises an annular turbine base body having a first front face, an opposite second front face, and a plurality of coolant passages, which are arranged so as to be distributed around a central axis of the turbine base body, said passages having a coolant inlet and a coolant outlet, each of which extends through the turbine base body at least in portions in such a way that the turbine base body can be set into rotation by a flow of coolant.

  • Publication number: 20230302546
Abstract: A grooving tool holder includes a lower portion, an upper portion, a cutting insert receptacle, a first fastener-mating hole, a second fastener-mating hole, a first axis, and an upper portion. The upper portion is pivotable relative to the lower portion. The cutting insert receptacle is disposed between the lower portion and the upper portion. The cutting insert receptacle includes an upper clamping jaw disposed in the upper portion and a lower clamping jaw disposed in the lower portion. The first fastener-mating hole is disposed in the upper portion. The second fastener-mating hole is disposed in the lower portion in alignment with the first fastener-mating hole. The first axis extends longitudinally along the grooving tool holder through a center of the first fastener-mating hole. The upper portion includes differently shaped or sized first and second portions disposed on opposite sides of the first axis which are within +?20% of one another.

  • Publication number: 20230302545
Abstract: A boring bar has a generally cylindrical elongate tool body has a proximal end for mounting to drive unit and a distal end for attachment to a tool head. A passageway extends longitudinally along the central axis of the elongate tool body. A plurality of longitudinally extending cavities are disposed annularly about the tool body. A compressive material is disposed in each of the cavities. An adjustable compression fitting is disposed in at least one end of each of the cavities, where each of the compression fitting can be adjusted to change compression of the material disposed in a respective cavity.

  • Patent number: 11534834
Abstract: Cutting tool holders are disclosed that include vibration dampening elements. The vibration dampening elements may extend parallel to a longitudinal plane of the cutting tool holder. The vibration dampening elements allow the cutting tool holders to have a smaller width while still providing higher grooving depth.

  • Publication number: 20210316376
Abstract: A rotary cutting tool includes a main body, a shank portion having a rearward end, and a flute portion having a forward end with one or more flanks. One or more connecting fluid holes are in fluid communication with a central fluid hole and terminates at a flank at the forward end of the cutting tool. One or more twisted fluid holes extend through a lobe in the flute portion and terminates at a flank at the forward end of the cutting tool. A cross-sectional shape of the connecting fluid holes and the twisted fluid holes is selected to provide enhanced delivery of fluid to the cutting edge. In one aspect, the rotary cutting tool is a modular drill and the flute portion has a pocket for holding a replaceable cutting insert.
