    Abstract: An automatic skin perfusion measuring system including instrumentation that automatically analyzes perfusion measurements to identify motion artifact and SPP values and a sensor placement device is provided. The instrumentation is configured to ignore motion artifact. Perfusion measurements are designated as SPP values if various criteria are met. SPP value criteria pertain to factors including cuff pressure, perfusion, perfusion change percentages relative to previous and subsequent perfusion measurements, and whether perfusion measurements are increasing or decreasing relative to previous and subsequent perfusion measurements. The sensor placement device assures reliable data is produced when multiple measurements are desired.

The outer surface of the liquid impervious layer has an adhesive portion for removably securing the cuff shield to the pressure cuff. The absorbent layer is secured to the liquid impervious layer and includes an outer surface, an inner surface, and a release strip on the outer surface of the absorbent layer. The release strip on the absorbent layer is configured to serve as a protective cover for an adhesive portion on a second cuff shield.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a cartridge for packaging an analyte-containing fluid calibrant. The cartridge is formed from a container having an opening sealed by a sealing member. A septum divides the container into a calibrant compartment and an outer compartment. A probe is provided comprising an analyte-detecting portion and a connecting portion that allows for operative connection to a device for quantitating or determining the concentration of the analyte. The probe may extend sealingly through the septum such that the analyte-detecting portion is located in the calibrant compartment and the connecting portion is located in the outer compartment. The construction of the cartridge provides ease and reduces the likelihood of error in calibrating the probe. The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing the cartridge and a method for calibrating a device for analyte concentration determination and quantitation using the inventive cartridge.

    Abstract: A device is provided for maintaining a volume of gas dissolved in a fluid at a predetermined partial pressure. The device includes a first sealable, gas-tight pouch containing the fluid and a second sealable, gas-tight pouch encasing the first pouch and providing a space between the first and second pouches. The space may be charged with an atmosphere containing a volume of the gas dissolved in the fluid that is greater than the volume of dissolved gas, at a partial pressure that is substantially the same as the partial pressure of the dissolved gas. A method is also provided for using the device to maintain a volume of a gas dissolved in a fluid at a predetermined partial pressure.
