  • Patent number: 5238731
Abstract: Articles comprising coemulsions of oxidized polyethylene with amino functional silicone fluids which includes at least one constituent selected from the group consisting of; ethoxylated aliphatic amines, ethoxylated nonylphenols, ethoxylated primary alcohols, ethoxylated secondary alcohols or other nonionic emulsifiers are taught, as well as processes for making the same. The coemulsions may also comprise further constituents, including but not limited to fatty acids, ammonium hydroxide, salts and water. Processes for the production of the coemulsion and articles comprising the same are also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 10, 1991
Date of Patent: August 24, 1993
    Assignee: Allied-Signal Inc.
Inventors: Robert M. Blanch, Mark J. Kaszubski, Gregory Borsinger, Irving B. Chang, Larry Krutzel
  • Patent number: 4834972
Abstract: Products for the personal care industry are formulated with gels comprising a telomer-copolymer of ethylene and a silane, and a solvent. Preferably a silicone oil or a substitute is included with sufficient solvent to provide a stable ternary gel. The gels provide the inherent advantages of silicones in such applications while reducing the amount required and improving stability of the formulations.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: May 30, 1989
    Assignee: Allied-Signal Inc.
    Inventor: Irving B. Chang
  • Patent number: 4572874
Abstract: The present invention is a composition comprising a polyterpene resin and at least two low molecular weight polyolefins as discussed below. The polyterpene resin preferably has a melting point of from about 60.degree. C. to about 150.degree. C. The composition contains from 15 to 40% based on the weight of the polyterpene resin of at least two polyolefin polymers selected from the group consisting of polyethylene homopolymers, polyethylene copolymers and oxidized polyethylene. There is at least one polymer selected from the group of copolymers and oxidized polyethylene.

Date of Patent: February 25, 1986
    Assignee: Allied Corporation
Inventors: Irving B. Chang, Robert E. Beckwith
  • Patent number: 4537922
Abstract: The present invention is a sulfur stabilized composition. The composition comprises an oxidized polyolefin, preferably oxidized polyethylene or oxidized polypropylene, with oxidized polyethylene being most preferred. The composition of the present invention optionally contains a filler.

  • Patent number: 4382989
Abstract: The present invention is an asphaltic composition which is useful as a roofing asphalt formulation and method of making this formulation. The composition includes about 39 to 99 percent by weight of oxidized asphalt and between 1 and about 8 percent of oxidized polyethylene. It is preferred to use between about 0 to 40 percent of the saturant, which can be an unoxidized asphalt, to modify the viscosity of the formulation. There can be a filled asphaltic composition comprising about 40 percent by weight to about 99 percent by weight of the asphaltic composition and about 1 percent by weight to about 60 percent by weight of filler, which can be stone dust.
