Irving I. Sochard has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 5641936
Abstract: A proximity fuze which employs a reflected beam of pulse modulated infrared adiation to determine the distance from the weapon to the target. Modulation is accomplished electronically. Correlation circuitry comprising a logic network is provided to continuously compare the received signal with the modulation signal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 11, 1964
Date of Patent: June 24, 1997
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy
Inventors: Irving I. Sochard, James E. Swanekamp, Rodney E. Grantham, Marcella C. Petree
  • Patent number: 5259570
Abstract: A device for protecting a missile guidance system from laser attack by suying replacement detectors if the working detector is damaged. The replacement detector can either be mounted on an indexing turret such that each detector can be alternately rotated into the focal position or they can be mounted in fixed positions and a mirror rotated to each fixed position.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 12, 1974
Date of Patent: November 9, 1993
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy
    Inventor: Irving I. Sochard
  • Patent number: 4269121
Abstract: Device for causing projectiles to detonate at the optimum point along their ndividual trajectories when fired at nearly any type of target. Detonation at this point will result in the greatest damage to the intended target.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 31, 1978
Date of Patent: May 26, 1981
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy
    Inventor: Irving I. Sochard
  • Patent number: 4010689
Abstract: A fuze for accurately sensing the distance to a target irrespective of the resence of a medium intermediate of the fuze and the target. The fuze includes a source of radiation which is transmitted to the target and a detector which detects the backscatter from the target and intervening media. The detector output is amplified in an amplifier connected thereto and filtered in a filter connected to the amplifier to provide an output signal which is threshold detected in a threshold device connected to the amplifier. The threshold detected signal is applied to a firing circuit to provide a signal responsive to a predetermined distance above the target.
