  • Publication number: 20170143924
Abstract: An endotracheal tube comprising a flexible hollow tube with a spiral slit traversing a substantial length of the tube. The slit has edges that separate to create an opening by which the tube may be spiral wound onto a medical device, such as a fiber optic bronchoscope, that is in use in a pharynx passage. The angle of the slit is preferably in the range of 30-60 degrees.

  • Patent number: 9138253
Abstract: An assembly and method for percutaneous placement of a catheter comprising an elongated hollow catheter having a distal end and a reduced cross-section portion at a proximal end thereof. An introducer needle is slidably mounted over said catheter. The introducer needle has an elongated slit adapted to slide over the reduced cross-section portion to separate the needle from the catheter. A syringe may be attached to the proximal end of the catheter. Also, a valve may be attached to the catheter to permit easy collection of fluid.

  • Patent number: 6470539
Abstract: A fastening system that has a first planar surface with a front side and a back side and a plurality of fasteners. Each fastener is engaged with the first planar surface. Each fastener has a stem or member with a body, preferably in the shape of a sphere, attached to one end of the stem and an anchor attached to the other end of the stem. The body of the fastener is inserted into holes in a second planar surface to secure the first planar surface to the second planar surface.

  • Patent number: 4960122
Abstract: A system for replacing a tracheal tube uses an obturator that is inserted into the existing tube until it protrudes out from the distal end. The old tube is then slid out using the obturator as a guide. A new tube is inserted along the obturator until it has been properly inserted. The obturator is then removed. The obtuator has a flexible atraumatic tip at one end and a gripping section at the outer end. It is made from a flexible radiopaque material and has positioning marks to facilitate use with both endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes.
