  • Patent number: 4852501
Abstract: A rack system of adjustable shelves has a simple and economical shelf assembly mechanism. A shelf is attached to its supporting vertical posts by placing each of the posts through an individually associated corner shelf socket. The shelf is kept in position by a plastic keeper which can be moved up and down the post to the desired height of the shelving. The keeper has a generally truncated pyramidal shape and at least one internal projection which fits into a dimple, recess, or notch formed in the post at the desired shelf height. The keeper has vertical slots that enables it to be squeezed together and to tightly wedge into the shelf socket and support the shelf on the corner post. The system can be adapted to both square and circular posts.

  • Patent number: 4815394
Abstract: An all plastic shelf is part of a shelving system and is provided for uses where metal shelves might rust or corrode, especially if attacked by hostile chemicals. The underside of the plastic shelf has a channel formed around the periphery thereof. A welded metal frame fits into the channel, with either the width of the frame or a cover plate substantially covering the channel in order to prevent an entry of foreign matter therein. Sockets are formed in the corners of the frame to receive corner posts for supporting the shelf. These sockets fit into corner sockets which are molded into the metal frame.

  • Patent number: 4715741
Abstract: An inverted U-shaped clip is provided for coupling together shelves on adjacent shelving units. The clip body comprises a pair of spaced-apart parallel sidewalls and a top wall connecting the sidewalls. A first pair of projections extends outwardly from one side of the two sidewalls and each terminates in an upwardly extending hook. With the clip body, the first pair of projections form a first shelf-receiving space. From the opposite side of the clip body, a second pair of projections extends outwardly from the clip, each terminating in an upwardly extending lip. A tongue extends outwardly from the top wall above the second pair of projections and from the same side of the clip body as does the second pair of projections. The tongue terminates in a downwardly extending lip, and with the second pair of projections and the clip body, forms a second shelf-receiving space.

  • Patent number: 4685575
Abstract: A shelving system is provided for mounting on a wall or similar support surface. The system can comprise one or more shelves at varying heights to accommodate different storage requirements. At first top shelf is mounted on the wall by means of a pair of c-shaped brackets that are secured to the wall and removably hold the back of the shelf and by a pair of braces, each secured to the wall at one end and to opposite sides of the shelf at the other end. Another shelf can be added to the system below the top shelf by means of a second pair of c-shaped brackets secured to the wall below the first pair of brackets and by a pair of support members secured to the top shelf that extend downwardly to support the second shelf. Further shelves can be added to the system below the second shelf in the same manner.
