  • Patent number: 9662274
Abstract: An implantation device for and method of orally administering a time released treating agent to a user over an extended period, including fixedly engaging at least one tooth of the user with the agent, and releasing the agent within the oral cavity, so as to be locally or systemically delivered to a remainder portion of the user separate from the teeth over the period.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 11, 2014
Date of Patent: May 30, 2017

  • Publication number: 20150238292
Abstract: A dental prosthetic device having a base constructed of an inexpensive remoldable material to allow for inexpensive and quick fitting and refitting to accommodate changes in dental structure. Harder tooth-like structures are associated with a mounting surface of the base, such as by overmolding the base onto ends of the structures, so that when the device is placed over a dental arch within a user's mouth, the tooth-like structures facilitate biting and chewing in the manner of teeth. A carrier is integrated in or affixed to one or more of the tooth-like structures and carries a treating agent. The treating agent is configured for controlled release over time through reaction with or dissolution by saliva in the mouth or by mechanical abrasion of the agent. The treating agent may be absorbable by mucous membranes in the mouth and may provide medicants, flavorings, aromatics, or the like.

  • Patent number: 9072456
Abstract: A multi-light apparatus (10) for primary use in dental or medicinal operatory workspaces and for interconnection with a modular operating chair (12), so as to form the headrest thereof, preferably includes first and second radiation sources (36,72) and a selection mechanism (70) for selecting a desired radiation source, a rigidly flexible light pipe (16) that may be alternatively coupled to each light source (36,72) and is configured to transmit selected radiation to a patient (14), a reflective surface (78) configured to direct the selected radiation to the pipe (16), a power supply (50), a cooling fan (56), and at least one potentiometer (66,68) for varying the voltage delivered to the sources (36,72) and fan (56).

  • Patent number: 9017074
Abstract: A dental prosthetic device (10,110) having a base (12,112) constructed of an inexpensive remoldable material, such as, for example, ethylene vinyl acetate, to allow for inexpensive and quick fitting and refitting to accommodate changes in dental structure (122). Harder teeth-like structures (14,114) are associated with a mounting surface (20,120) of the base (12,112), such as by overmolding the base (12,112) onto ends (38) of the structures (14,114), so that, when the device (10,110) is placed over a dental arch (122) within a user's mouth, the teeth-like structures (14,114) facilitate biting and chewing in the manner of teeth.

  • Publication number: 20140058330
Abstract: A dental implant device (30) providing intravascular access to a body of a patient. The device (30) includes a portal component (32) installed in a mouth (50) of the patient in place of or in association with a natural tooth, and a removable cap (34) resembling a natural tooth. The portal component (32) is connectable to an implanted catheter (36) which may extend from the device (30) into the body via vasculature associated with the periodontal ligament.
