Abstract: An accessory for preventing a pre-hung door from sagging in a door frame comprised of a retainer for supporting one side of the door on a lock jamb of the frame and a bolt which is slideable in the frame for preventing the door from rotating in the frame. The retainer has a “U” shaped portion which receives a lock jamb and an adjoining cylindrical portion which engages a bore in a door. The bolt is an elongated slender member having an enlarged end portion which engages a pocket in the lock jamb and a spur which resists a withdrawal of the bolt from the lock jamb.

Abstract: A door frame with and threshold for mounting optional latch strikes, lock strikes and blank covers in the same door frame. The door jamb includes cut-outs and a reinforcement with depressed center portions opposite the cut-outs for attaching matching strikes of optional latches and locks. The shapes of the cut-outs, reinforcement and matching strikes cooperate in a manner which allow the same door frame to be used with existing latches and locks. The improved threshold eliminates the failures of seals in vertical gap in current thresholds because of temperature changes and persons stepping on thresholds.

Abstract: A method and kit for retrofitting security doors to facilitate escaping from buildings during emergencies. One benefit is that it applies to new security doors as well as existing security doors. Still yet another benefit is that it can be molded from a corrosion resistant plastic. Still yet another benefit is that only basic hand tools are required for retrofitting existing doors. The kit is comprised of a simple separable shield having a thin outer wall portion for enclosing an unlocking member and an orthogonal portion for retaining the shield in a security door. In one aspect of the invention the shield is mounted in fixed relationship to the security door. In a second aspect, the shield is mounted in rotating relationship to the security door. The method is comprised of the steps of removing a lock member, installing the shield and re-installing the lock member.
