Abstract: An apparatus with an electric motor including a stator and a rotor; a shaft secured to the rotor; a gearing assembly coupled with the shaft; and a housing assembly defining a non-partitioned interior space housing both the electric motor and gearing assembly. The shaft may be unsupported by bearing assemblies and/or free of oil seals and similar sealing engagements between the electric machine and gearing assembly. The motor may be an axial flux motor having a single stator. The gearing assembly may be a planetary reduction gear assembly with a sun gear mounted on the shaft. The apparatus may include only a single electric motor or include a second electric motor and second gearing assembly. The embodiments having a single motor may be used to drive a fan or a vehicle wheel. The embodiments having two motors may be used as a differential drive.

Abstract: A chassis frame has a right side rail and a left side rail running lengthwise of the frame opposite each other and joined together by at least one crossmember. A rectangular tube overlies, and has underlying support by, the top wall of the respective side rail. A right uniting member runs lengthwise of the frame for uniting the right rectangular tube and the right side rail in assembly, and a left uniting member runs lengthwise of the frame for uniting the left rectangular tube and the left side rail in assembly. Each uniting member has a horizontal flange overlying and joined to the respective rectangular tube, and a vertical flange extending downward from the respective horizontal flange and joined to the respective side rail.

Abstract: Temperature control devices have become common to cool the exhaust stream from a diesel particulate filter before release into the environment. To further cool the filtered exhaust stream and to protect the temperature control device, a duct can be used to surround the inlets of the temperature control device. The duct has a head section surrounding the inlets at one end and a base section extending from the head section with a vent at the other end. Ambient air is drawn through the vent into the duct and into the inlets of the temperature control device to further cool the filtered exhaust stream.

Abstract: A frame extender (10) for attachment to a siderail (14) and to a front cross member (16A) of a vehicle frame (12) having a centerline (C) includes a first portion (52) generally parallel with and attached to the siderail. The frame extender (10) also includes a second portion (66) extending generally transversely from the first portion (52) and outwardly from the centerline (C), and a third portion (80) extending from the second portion and generally parallel to the siderail (14). The first portion (52), the second portion (66) and the third portion (80) are formed as a single component.
