Abstract: A controlled-environment facility resident communication and/or media device master control employs a controlled-environment facility vendor datacenter, a centralized investigative data aggregation and analysis system, or the like, to provide a controlled-environment facility management portal to a controlled-environment facility administrator, presenting an option to disable controlled-environment facility resident communication and/or media devices operating in a controlled-environment facility. The controlled-environment facility vendor datacenter, or the like, disables access to controlled-environment facility resident communication and/or media devices operating in the controlled-environment facility, in response to selection of the option to disable devices operating in the facility, sends a message to devices operating in the facility to disable all application programs on a respective device, and disable access to devices operating in the controlled-environment facility.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a database configured to store digital versions of physical or electronic items received at a controlled-environment facility. Each of the digital versions associated with a unique identifier. A digital network portal is configured to provide remote access to the database. A production system is configured to create physical or electronic copies of selected ones of the stored digital versions. The physical or electronic copy comprises an image of the original physical or electronic item and a two-dimensional barcode. The two-dimensional barcode comprises a network address for the digital network portal and the unique identifier. The two-dimensional barcode may comprise a Quick Response (QR) code.

Abstract: In embodiments for authorized use of personal controlled-environment facility resident communication and/or media devices by device location eligibility within a controlled-environment facility, each resident device, itself, determines whether the device is authorized to operate within a particular area within the facility that the device is entering or attempting to operate in, and/or whether the device is authorized to operate one or more particular application programs (apps) and/or device functions within the particular area. The device, itself, allows operation of the device, and/or allows operation of the particular app(s) and/or device functions, in response to a determination that the device is authorized to do so within the particular area.

Abstract: In a controlled-environment facility resident-to-resident communication management system a controlled-environment facility electronic digital mail center, and/or the like, receives and creates a digital version of an original mail item received at a controlled-environment facility, and a controlled-environment facility mail database, and/or the like, that stores digital versions of original mail items received at the controlled-environment facility.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing displays on video communication devices are disclosed. A video communication session is established to a remote device. A video signal is received from the remote device. Images from the video signal are shown on the display. A blur command is received from a user of the video communication device or automatically based on a set of rules. At least a portion of the images on the display are blurred in response to the blur command. The blurring may comprise, blurring one or more objects in a background of the images, blurring one or more faces in the images, and/or blurring static background objects in the images.

Abstract: Methods and systems for restricting use of a set of wired headphones to use with a particular controlled-environment facility resident communication and/or media device may employ wired headphones having a near field communication (NFC) functionality storing a serial number, or the like, of a particular controlled-environment facility resident communication and/or media device. Controlled-environment facility resident communication and/or media devices read information stored in the NFC functionality of a set of wired headphones being used with the device and determine if the NFC functionality of the set of wired headphones being used with the device has the serial number of the device stored in the NFC functionality.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present systems and methods reward non-residents associated with a controlled-environment facility resident for good behaviors related to electronic communications with a controlled-environment facility resident. One or more controlled-environment facility associated computer systems, or the like, maintain a non-resident electronic communications behavior evaluation system, monitor and/or track a non-resident's behaviors with respect to electronic communications with a controlled-environment facility resident and analyze the non-resident behavior with respect to the electronic communications with the resident. The one or more controlled-environment facility associated computer systems, or the like, may provide rewards to the non-resident for use toward electronic communications with the controlled-environment facility resident, or the like, based on good behavior determined by the analysis of the non-resident behavior with respect to the electronic communications with the resident.

Abstract: Video communications of residents of a controlled-environment facility are monitored to detect instances of inappropriate behavior within the video, such as nudity. Residents may participate in live video visitation sessions with non-residents. Video recordings are generated for each video feed of the live video visitation. During the live video visitation, indications of inappropriate behavior displayed in the live video are detected. If indications of inappropriate behavior are detected in the live video, the recorded video is annotated to specify the locations of the detected indications in the recording. Upon completion of the video visitation session, post-processing of the recorded video detects additional indications of inappropriate behavior. The additional indications may be detected at proximal locations to the annotations and may be detected based on sampling frames of the recording to detect changes in the occurrence of pixels having a skin tone color.

Abstract: Proactive multiple controlled-environment facility investigative data aggregation and analysis systems and methods may accept setup of alerts, each alert associated with particular data related to electronic communications, and each alert to be directed to at least one person not associated with the controlled-environment facility in which the communication originated, in which a particular resident associated with the electronic communication resides, and/or the like. Via a supervisory system, a bypass may be authorized for exempting the communication session from various regulated aspects of sessions regulated by the communication system. For instance, a communication may be exempt from monitoring based on assertions that the communication is privileged. The communications system receives a request for a communication session with a non-resident at a first telephone number. If a communication session is authorized by a bypass authorization, the communication session is hosted, while exempt from the regulations specified by the bypass authorization. A monitoring system tracks the hosted bypass communication session by determining whether telephone numbers other than the first telephone number have been joined to the communication session.
