  • Publication number: 20190080584
Abstract: A system for alerting caregivers that a child has been unintentionally or recklessly abandoned in a location, such as a car seat. The system transmits a signal only when the child is detected in the location. A local mobile device generates a local alert when the signal strength falls below a threshold. The local alert tells a caregiver carrying the local mobile device that the child has been abandoned. The local mobile device also sends a remote alert to a central server that sends the remote alert to at least one remote mobile device. The central server can also send a remote alert to at least one remote mobile device indicating that the caregiver has abandoned both the child and the local mobile device if the child is detected, the local mobile device has not moved for a while, and the caregiver has not responded to local mobile device prompts.

  • Publication number: 20190080583
Abstract: A child safety system for alerting caregivers that the child has been unintentionally or recklessly abandoned. The system includes a child presence detecting device having a Bluetooth Low Energy beacon that transmits a signal only when a child is detected in a location. A local mobile device receives and interprets the signal so as to generate a local alert when the signal strength falls below a threshold. The local alert tells a caregiver carrying the local mobile device that the child has been unintentionally or recklessly abandoned. The local mobile device also sends a remote alert via internet to a central server that communicates the remote alert to at least one remote mobile device. The local mobile device also sends the remote alert via an internet connection to a second server that communicate the remote alert to at least one additional remote mobile device via a respective individual internet connection.

  • Patent number: 10157529
Abstract: A child safety device and system is disclosed that alerts one or more authorized users when a caregiver walks away from a child in a car seat or similar location, when leaving a child alone is dangerous or otherwise undesirable, such as in a hot car. Detailed logging enables a review of all times that the caregiver was detected as moving too far from the child in a monitored location. The device includes at least one pressure sensor to detect the presence of a child in a location, a Bluetooth Low Energy beacon to provide a signal when energized, and a battery electrically connected to both the Bluetooth Low Energy beacon and the at least one pressure sensor, the Bluetooth Low Energy beacon being energized when pressure is applied to the pressure sensor, and the Bluetooth Low Energy beacon being deactivated when no pressure is applied to the pressure sensor.

  • Patent number: 8705823
Abstract: A breast examination system is disclosed that facilitates normalized quantitative comparison of results from multiple examinations performed under differing conditions, such as different viewing angles. The proposed system can operate on a camera-equipped smart-phone, a camera-equipped desk-top computer, or on a dedicated device to perform a guided breast cancer examination, and then store results of the examination in a normalized format that allows effective quantitative comparison to historic results, thereby detecting changes and trends. The results can be stored on the local device, or on a web-based server, providing various data comparison, data management, and data interpretation services in a secure and controlled manner.

  • Patent number: 8597199
Abstract: An allergy skin test device is disclosed that causes less pain than commonly used devices that include multi-point sharp puncture heads. The allergy skin test device incorporates multiple dull pressure heads distributed amongst the sharp multi-point sharp puncture heads, each dull pressure head activating a neurological pain gate that reduces pain sensation typically caused by the neighboring multi-point head when it engages the skin.

  • Publication number: 20130281932
Abstract: A palm-held device is disclosed for injection of a substance into an organism. The palm-held device has the shape of a computer mouse, and so is very familiar, which helps with ease-of-use and comfort. Like a computer mouse, the device can be moved easily by gently holding and guiding the mouse with the fingers and the palm of the hand. There are many possible button configurations, such as a single button mouse, the button having a large surface at the front top portion of the mouse, and being pressable by any finger. There can also be a two button mouse, such that the left button actuates the injection, and the right button is the “safety” that allows the left button to actuate the injection. The two buttons can be on the top front of the mouse, or can be on the right and left sides of the mouse.

  • Publication number: 20130030009
Abstract: A method of applying a topical preparation of at least one of a mast cell stabilizer, an antihistamine, and a leukotriene inhibitor is disclosed for prevention and/or treatment of oral allergy syndrome of the lips, including lip itchiness and/or swelling. For example, topical application of Cromolyn Sodium to the lips can be used to prevent and/or treat allergic reaction to consumption or other contact with raw fruits and/or raw vegetables. The topical administration can be performed by using applicator devices that apply at least one of a mast cell stabilizer and an antihistamine in the form of a liquid, or a gel, or a butter, or a wax-like solid, or a liposome suspension. Applicator devices can include at least one of: a roller, a brush, a sponge, a swab, a tube, a lipstick. The taste of the at least one of a mast cell stabilizer and an antihistamine can be masked by flavors.

  • Publication number: 20130031451
Abstract: A website and method are disclosed for helping a recommender to provide confidential recommendations for individuals. The system enables the recommender to efficiently comply with multiple requests for confidential recommendations, and to efficiently comply with a single request for a confidential recommendation to be sent to multiple institutions. The system eliminates the need to write multiple confidential recommendations when the individual applies to multiple institutions by enabling the recommender to distribute multiple links to the same confidential recommendation. The system also enables the recommender to easily edit the recommendation before or after multiple links have been distributed, thereby ensuring that the recommender retains control over the content of the confidential recommendation. The control over the recommendation link also includes a capability for changing the link expiration date, temporarily suspending or re-activating a link, and deleting a link.
