  • Patent number: 4664469
Abstract: A one-piece pliable metal grounding strap comprises a U-shaped section having a pair of leg portions interconnected by a bight portion. One of the leg portions has an inwardly bent section extending adjacent thereof and across the bight portion, the bent section being adapted to contact on one side thereof a ground member; a hook member outwardly projects from this leg portion. A collar member is fixed to the bight portion, the collar member having a threaded bore adapted to threadably engage a screw member and being disposed to permit the screw member to frictionally engage the bent section on the other side thereof substantially perpendicularly thereto. The other leg portion is extended relative to the aforesaid one leg portion to define an elongated wrap section adapted to be bent about the ground member and over the one leg portion and the bight portion with the ground member disposed between the bent section and the wrap section.

  • Patent number: 4526428
Abstract: A multi-strand cable clamp comprises a pair of opposingly disposed plate members each having an edge bent to define a jaw means for gripping a multi-strand cable, the plate members being articulated to one another for moving the jaw means between open and closed positions, and releasable coupling means interconnecting the plate members and operable to bias the jaw means to the closed position for releasably securing the cable in clamping engagement between the jaw means. The bent edge of each plate member is formed with a tooth which is inclined relative to the longitudinal axis of the cable so as to engage the cable between two successive outer strands thereof, thereby providing a positive strand engagement and preventing the plate members from pivoting about the cable as well as sliding therealong.

  • Patent number: 4477948
Abstract: The invention is concerned with a device for holding a cable suspended from a support, the cable having an aerial support wire connected therealong for supporting same with an end portion thereof securely held by the device. The device of the invention comprises an open-ended tubular member having an inlet end and an outlet end for receiving the cable and support wire therethrough with the end portion of the support wire extending beyond the outlet end and separated from the cable, wire retention means integral with the tubular member for securing the wire end portion to the tubular member and means for connecting the tubular member to the support such that the tubular member lies at a predetermined distance from the support.

  • Patent number: 4461521
Abstract: The invention is concerned with a bracket for hanging a multi-tap directional coupling device from a suspended wire, such as a strand running between poles on a street, and for grounding a plurality of support wires each of which extends along a respective cable, connected to the coupling device, for supporting same, the support wires each having a terminal end and a connecting portion contiguous thereto. The hanger bracket of the invention comprises an elongated member having a first end portion adapted to be detachably coupled to the coupling device, a second end portion provided with clamp means for releasable clamping engagement with the suspended wire, and a portion intermediate the first and second end portions defining a grounding plate. A separate fastener means is associated with each support wire for releasably securing the connecting portion thereof against the grounding plate whereby to provide a common ground for all the support wires.

  • Patent number: 4014504
Abstract: A hooking device for holding a cable from a suspended wire. The cable hooking device includes a pair of plates each having opposed end and lateral edges, which plates are bent outwardly on a same side at the end edges thereof and are disposed one over the other with respective end edges facing one another. Jaw means are provided on each plate at one end edge thereof, cooperating with one another to clamp the wire therebetween. The device further comprises releasable coupling means operable to bias the plates towards one another to secure the wire in clamping engagement between the plate jaw means, and at least one hooking member for holding the cable. The coupling means includes a bolt having a longitudinal axis extending perpendicularly of the plates between their opposed end edges.

  • Patent number: 3960461
Abstract: A drop wire and/or cable clamp to provide a predetermined tension in a wire and/or cable between said clamp and a building to which said wire and/or cable is connected at one end and to produce a loose portion between said clamp and a box to which said wire and/or cable is connected at the other end. This clamp comprises a conical member, and a conical sleeve for mounting over the conical member. The clamp will be arranged for axially clamping the wire between the conical member and the conical sleeve and it will be possible to fix the conical member adjacent the box, with the conical sleeve mounted thereover and the wire therebetween. The net result will be to produce a loose portion in the wire or cable which has been installed between the box and the drop wire and/or cable clamp, and at the same time to obtain the portion under tension between the clamp on the building.
