  • Patent number: 7644181
Abstract: A method for routing a service request in a telecommunication system in cases where the identifier received for the destination of the service is not (or can not be) suitable for routing the service, such as when a E.164 number is received in IP based multimedia telecommunication systems. Upon reception of a service request in a telecommunications node of the telecommunication system in charge of serving control for services, a query comprising the received identifier is made to a translation database. As a result, a plurality of identifiers related to the received identifier are received that can have different formats and imply different service types. The service is further routed from said telecommunications node according to an identifier selected among said plurality of identifiers that contains the primarily received identifier in the user name portion.

  • Patent number: 6839421
Abstract: An efficient interface for service exchange is provided between a circuit-switched communications network and a domain naming system (DNS) in a packet-switched communications network. A node in the circuit-switched communications network receives from a first entity a request for a first service involving a second entity associated with a second entity identifier. A message is sent from the circuit-switched network node to a DNS server in the packet-switched network requesting a second service related to the second entity identifier. The result of the second service from the DNS server is used in providing the first service.

  • Publication number: 20020147845
Abstract: A User Distribution Server (UDS) is provided in a network having multiple servers and users which are each identified by a plurality of different user identifications. The UDS is located close to an entity disposed to request user information and the UDS responds to a query pertaining to a specific user by redirecting the query to the appropriate server or serving entity. The UDS implements a secondary database with user and server identification information obtained from primary user databases associated with or derived from the servers. The use of distinct primary and secondary databases simplifies data handling, since data changes and updates can be readily managed in the primary databases and then transferred to or actualized in the secondary database.
