  • Publication number: 20240051910
Abstract: A method for producing glycolic acid includes selectively hydrogenating glyoxylic acid using a catalyst comprising at least one transition metal element, the glycolic acid produced, which has a bio-based carbon content of above 50%. A method for preparing a composition selected from the group consisting of cosmetics, home care products, personal care products, textiles, food, beverages, drugs, fragrances, inks, or paints includes adding the glycolic acid to the composition.

  • Patent number: 6458757
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of perfuming compositions, to perfumed products, and to products obtained therefrom. More specifically, the present invention concerns a process for the production of perfuming compositions, perfumed products and substances for perfumery characterized in that they comprise, as an active ingredient with an influence on the scent, an effective quantity of an alkylsalicylic acid ester.

  • Publication number: 20020119909
Abstract: The present invention includes a process for enantioselective preparation of a non-racemic compound, which is either usable as a fragrance or flavor component or is convertible to a fragrance or flavor component by one or more additional reaction steps. The process includes the step of contacting either a substrate capable of forming a non-racemic compound by an enantioselective reaction and a co-reactant in the presence of a non-racemic catalyst, or a non-racemic or enantiopure substrate and a co-reactant, optionally in the presence of a racemic or non-racemic catalyst. The contacting is carried out at a temperature and length of time that is sufficient to produce the non-racemic compound with high optical purity. The process is used in stereoselective preparation of enantiomerically enriched intermediates useful in the preparation of non-racemic, chiral flavor and fragrance components.

  • Patent number: 5834616
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of pentenenitriles. In this process the 3- or 4-pentenenitriles are produced by reacting 2-methylglutarimide, ethylsuccinimide, and/or their precursors, such as 4-cyanovalerimide, 2-methyl-4-cyanobutyrimide, 4-cyanovaleric acid, 2-methyl-4-cyanobutyric acid, 3-cyanovalerimide, 2-ethyl-3-cyanopropionimide, 3-cyanovaleic acid, and 2-ethyl-3-cyanopropionic acid, in the vapor phase at temperatures of 200.degree. to 600.degree. C. in the presence of an acidic solid catalyst, such as acidic molecular sieves, acidic clays, bridged or pillared clays, bulk oxides, and acidic phosphates.
