  • Patent number: 5714268
Abstract: A thin film for covering a clear or colored glass sheet to form a monolithic automobile glazing. The film is based upon metallic tantalum. It may be covered with a layer based upon oxides of various metals. The solar energy transmission and also the reflection of light through the glazing are low, whereas the reflectance is similar to that of the base glass.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 28, 1996
Date of Patent: February 3, 1998
    Assignee: Saint-Gobain Vitrage International
Inventors: Charles Edward Anderson, Isabelle Wuest, Jacques Tabare, Guenther Termath
  • Patent number: 5112675
Abstract: Glazing absorbing heat and intended for automobiles consists of a clear or tinted glass covered with a layer of TiC and an overlayer of ITO deposited by cathode sputtering. It is particularly suited to systems of glazings whose transmission decreases by degrees from the front to the rear of the vehicle.

    Assignee: Saint-Gobain Vitrage International
Inventors: Isabelle Wuest, Charles E. Anderson, Jacques Tabare
  • Patent number: 5011585
Abstract: A method for depositing on glass, by reactive cathode sputtering, a layer of indium tin oxide with low resistivity and high transparency, where a layer with at least a minimum intrinsic absorption coefficient is deposited and then a heat treatment, including of one reducing phase, is performed.
