  • Publication number: 20020192453
Abstract: A highly thermally conductive composite material is characterized in that it contains 20-75 Vol % of SiC, with the balance being Cu, and further contains a reaction preventive layer interposed on the interface between SiC and Cu for preventing a reaction between the two substances. Specifically, the reaction preventive layer is a thin film having a thickness of 0.01-10 microns, consisting of carbon or a carbide of at least one element selected from the group consisting of Cr, Nb, Ta and W. In particular, the composite material has a thermal expansion coefficient of 4.5-10×10−6/K and a thermal conductivity of 200 W/mK or higher.

  • Publication number: 20020121167
Abstract: The invention provides a novel machining tool suitable for machining, e.g., lathing, of a workpiece made from a difficult-to-machine material such as fully sintered ceramics and quench-hardened high-chromium cast irons. The machining tool has a conically pointed cutting chip of a cemented metal carbide and provided with a round-bottom groove of a 0.2-0.5 mm radius of curvature running with an inclination angle of 15-60° relative to the cutting face of the chip. The invention also provides a machining method for a workpiece of a difficult-to-machine material by using the above-mentioned machining tool, in which ultrasonic vibrations are applied to the tool in the cutting direction so that abrasive wearing of the flank surface can be decreased.

  • Patent number: 5816295
Abstract: A weft picking control method capable of realizing control of a weft picking arriving time with a quick response over a wide range. The weft picking control method in an air-jet loom includes supplying air under pressure to weft picking nozzles, and jetting air under pressure from the weft picking nozzles so as to pick a weft into a warp shed together with the jetted air. Also, a supply passage for supplying the pressurized air to the weft picking nozzles includes high and low pressure supply passages. The passages are arranged in parallel with each other, and the air under pressure is jetted from the weft picking nozzles in cooperation with the two supply passages.

  • Patent number: 4770017
Abstract: Disclosed herein a method for forming plates into shapes having a double-curved surface, and an apparatus for carrying out the method. For forming a double-curved plate, a work is three-dimensionally formed by passing same through an entrance roll, flexible rolls and exit rolls which are in vertically adjusted positions relative to each other. The flexible rolls are constituted by a pair of flexible and contractibly extensible upper and lower rolls which are supported in flexed state by a plural number of bearings to define therebetween a desired bending shape. As the work is gripped between and fed through the two flexible rolls, it is imparted with a deformation across its width. Therefore, the bending form of the work can be preset by controlling the vertical positions of the bearings which support the flexible rolls, making it possible to form a double-curved plate by a simple control involving a reduced number of control points.
