    Abstract: A steering device according to the present invention has: a column pipe; a hanger bracket; an outer column that covers the column pipe in such a manner that the column pipe can move in a front-back direction; a fixed bracket that sandwiches the outer column; a fastening tool that has a bolt shaft and an operation lever portion, is inserted into a long hole of the hanger bracket, and locks and unlocks the outer column and the fixed bracket; a stopper member that is provided in the bolt shaft and swings as the bolt shaft rotates; and a telescopic regulating member that moves in the front-back direction together with the column pipe. The stopper member is capable of coming into abutment with the telescopic regulating member in an unlocked state but is not capable of coming into abutment with the telescopic regulating member in a locked state.

    Abstract: A steering wheel position adjustment device in a steering device includes a tilt telescopic adjustment mechanism. A column housing, through which a column pipe passes and is fixed thereto, is fitted to a fixed bracket so that the column housing can either freely move or be fixed in the axial direction. The column pipe is inserted slidably in an insertion hole of a pivot housing that is fitted to be able to swing freely and be fixed to the front of the column housing in the axial direction. An upper shaft is provided, within the column pipe, that moves together with the column pipe in the axial direction. A lower shaft is provided in the pivot housing. The upper shaft transmits rotation to the lower shaft, and the upper shaft and the lower shaft are connected to be able to slide freely relative to each other.

During a collision, the collar portion bends the shaft-like member and crushes the second shock absorbing portion to thereby absorb colliding energy.

    Abstract: A mold for manufacturing a steering shaft formed with inner and outer shafts which are telescopically contractible on impact is disclosed. The mold includes an outer shaft supporting mold portion and an inner shaft supporting mold portion that respectively receive the outer and inner shafts in a telescoped position. A first molten resin injection guide portion formed in the outer shaft supporting mold is located in alignment with a hole formed in the outer shaft and a circumferential groove formed in the inner shaft to enable injection of resin through the hole into the groove. A second molten resin injection guide portion communicates with a first opening formed between the outer and inner shafts to enable injection of resin material into this opening to fix the shafts in concentric alignment with each other.

A pair of abutting ends 6a of the side plates 6 of the movable bracket B are capable of abutting against a pair of abutted ends 5a of the connecting member 5 only when an impact load has occurred.

    Abstract: A device capable of pivotally and axially adjusting by a single operation a steering shaft having a steering wheel. The device includes fixed tilting brackets having descending portions positioned on both sides of a slidable inner cylinder connected to the steering shaft, and a raising/lowering bracket which is attached to the fixed brackets so as to pivotally adjust the steering shaft, and which can ascend and descend together with a steering column. The raising/lowering bracket is attached to the fixed tilting brackets by tightening a screw bar, whereas it can ascend and descend by loosening the screw bar. When the screw bar is tightened, a pressing piece supported by the screw bar pushes the slidable inner cylidner, thereby controlling the movement of the steering shaft in the axial direction of the shaft. On the other hand, when the screw bar is loosened, pressing force is released to permit the steering shaft to move in the axial direction.
