The electronic component mount member includes a heat transfer plate on which the electronic component is to be mounted and which is configured to come into contact with the temperature adjusting member, and an electronic component cover for covering the electronic component. The heat transfer plate includes through holes.

Abstract: A method for providing a visual representation pertaining to a resolution of at least one scanned image segment obtained from a portable scanner is disclosed. The method includes associating the scanned image segment with positional coordinates relative to an image on a scanned medium. The method also includes determining the resolution of the scanned image segment and assigning the scanned image segment to a resolution category associated with the resolution. The method also includes displaying the image segment in a format associated with the resolution category, at a location corresponding to the location of the image segment relative to the image on the scanned medium.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for reducing data size of at least one bitmap image, wherein the bitmap image comprises a plurality of image components, wherein each image component is associated with a distinct color plane. The plurality of color planes may be ranked using a dominance rank, wherein the dominance rank for a color plane is based on data in its associated image component. The data size of the at least one image component may be reduced based on the dominance rank of the color plane associated with the image component.

Abstract: A cap 25 having a piece of glass 26 formed at a laser irradiating position and covering a laser irradiating direction and an upper face of a package 24, is mounted onto the package 24 having lateral faces of a frame body 30 formed in three directions other than the laser irradiating direction, so as to reduce the distance between a semiconductor element 22 and the piece of glass and to reduce a radius 32 of the piece of glass 26. The profile of the semiconductor device can be therefore lowered while maintaining the characteristics of a semiconductor laser. In addition, by mounting the semiconductor device, the profile of an optical pickup device can also be lowered.

Further, by using the semiconductor device 30, it is possible to reduce the thickness and size of an optical pickup and the thickness and size of an optical disc drive using the optical pickup.

Also, the information display device has a speaker, and when a mode to display information on the liquid crystal displays at a high speed is selected, the speaker is inhibited from reproducing sound.

Abstract: An image information display device, such as an electronic book, that displays contents stored in a recording medium on a first screen and a second screen in which liquid crystal is used. The device includes means for paging through image information and means for screen selection. The means for screen selection is used to select a two-screen mode in which the contents are displayed on both the first and second screens or a one-screen mode in which an image is displayed on either of the screens. By selecting the one-screen mode, energy consumption may be reduced.

Abstract: An information display device can be structured as an electronic book which has a first screen and a second screen made of liquid crystal with a memory effect. A dry battery can be used as its power source section. The remaining electric power of the battery is detected by measuring the voltage, and immediately before the remaining electric power becomes a minimum voltage necessary for erasure of the screens, the first and second screens are reset so that the images displayed thereon can be erased.
