    Abstract: A three dimensional surface shaping tool comprising a machining portion, wherein a graphical projection of the outermost locus of the motion of the machining portion, onto a plane parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tool, has a shape comprising a curve expressed by at least one equation or a combination of at least one straight line and at least one of the curve, and a three dimensional surface shaping method using the above mentioned tool, which comprises the steps of determining the desired shape of the surface; choosing a shape of the tool based on the desired shape of the surface; and contacting the tool with a workpiece under tool motion control such that the contact with the tool occurs at points along the machining portion of the tool where a curvature thereof is most appropriate for the desired surface shape.

    Abstract: A driving power transmission device having a clutch provided between a first shaft and a second shaft relatively rotatable to each other for transmitting a driving power is provided, wherein a housing to which the first shaft is connected and a piston provided in the housing for actuating the clutch define a cylindrical space in order to receive a plurality of blades rotatable with the second shaft. High viscous fluid is filled within the cylindrical space defined by the housing and the piston. Each of the blades has a convexly curved side surface and a concavely curved side surface located at opposite sides in rotational direction. When the first shaft rotates faster than the second shaft, the convexly curved side surfaces of the blades compulsorily displaces the high viscous fluid within the space in order to generate a pressure actuating the clutch through the piston. In this forward torque transmission, the tranmissive torque becomes relatively large.

    Abstract: A continuous composite coating apparatus for coating a continuous strip has a pair of strip supply/take-up devices and at least two of a plasma chemical vapor deposition coating zone, an ion-plating coating zone and a sputtering coating zone which are arranged in series along the path of said strip between the strip supply/take-up devices. The adjacent coating zones are separated from each other by a partition wall having a slit which is sized to allow the strip to pass therethrough and guide rollers are provided adjacent to the upper edge of the strip so as to tense the strip such that the path of the strip is slightly convex downwards thereby to keep the strip away from the upper and lower edges of the slit. The coating zones are arranged to effect coating only on the underside of the strip which is not contacted by the guide rollers, whereby a coating layer having excellent properties without any defect can be formed on the underside of the strip.

    Abstract: In assembling a rotor into a small electric rotary machine, a spacer made of resinous material is provided to have an ideal axial play for the rotor. When the rotor is assembled into a housing, the resinous spacer is made to be soft enough to allow encroachment of the rotor shaft end until the rotor is placed in the right place. Thereafter, the spacer is made hard enough to support the axial movement of the rotor when the motor operates. Since the resinous spacer shrinks after hardening it provides an ideal axial play for the rotor.
