Patent number: 5484490Abstract: A P-type thermoelectric material consists essentially of iron disilicide, metallic manganese and metallic aluminium dissolved in or alloyed with the iron disilicide, and silicon oxide and/or aluminum oxide present in the iron disilicide. The manganese is contained in an amount of from 1.67 to 4.1 atomic % with respect to a sum of atoms of iron and silicon constituting the iron disilicide, the metallic manganese and the metallic aluminum taken as 100 atomic %, and the metallic aluminum contained in an amount of from 1.33 to 3.33 atomic % with respect thereto, and a sum of the metallic manganese and the metallic aluminum in an amount of from 4.0 to 5.34 atomic % with respect thereto. The P-type thermoelectric material having such a composition produces a thermoelectromotive force equal to or greater than those of the conventional P-type thermoelectric materials comprised of iron disilicide, and it exhibits a mean resistivity equal to or smaller than that of the N-type thermoelectric material.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1994Date of Patent: January 16, 1996Assignees: Technova Inc., National Research Institute for MetalsInventors: Shigeki Tokita, Makoto Okabayashi, Takashi Amano, Isao Nishida

Patent number: 5473494Abstract: An electrical power supply system includes an electrical power source system connected to a bus bar and a plurality of electric power transmission systems each connected via circuit breakers to the bus bar. The supply system has overvoltage suppression equipments each installed between the transmission system and the ground. The overvoltage suppression equipment includes a switching device and an impedance connected to the switching device. The switching device in a sound transmission system is closed when the circuit breaker operates in other faulty transmission system, thereby an overvoltage being occurred on the sound system is effectively suppressed.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1992Date of Patent: December 5, 1995Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Yukio Kurosawa, Youichi Ohshita, Masaru Watanabe, Isao Nishida, Yoshihito Asai, Tokio Yamagiwa

Patent number: 5391930Abstract: A circuit breaker with a parallel resistor which fulfills with a simple structure incompatible requirements for a resistance circuit making contact with regard to maintenance of the dielectric strength and prearcing characteristic between electrodes. A resistance circuit making contact 2 and a resistance circuit breaking contact 3 are electrically connected in parallel, one end of the parallel circuit is connected to one end of a common resistor and the other end of the parallel circuit and the other end of the resistor are connected to the respective ends of a main contact 1. After the opening of the resistance circuit making contact 2 the resistance circuit breaking contact 3 is still closed.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1992Date of Patent: February 21, 1995Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Youichi Ohshita, Katuichi Kashimura, Akira Hashimoto, Osamu Koyanagi, Yukio Kurosawa, Isao Nishida

Patent number: 5298703Abstract: A three-phase common tank type gas circuit breaker has a grounded tank filled with an insulating gas and accommodating three interrupter assemblies for three phases of the electric power. Each assembly includes a parallel electrical connection of an interrupter having stationary and movable contacts, a capacitor and a closing resistor. The interrupters for the three phases are disposed in spaced relationship circumferentially of the tank and have axes extending axially of the tank. The closing resistor for each phase is disposed on one side of the associated interrupter adjacent an adjacent interrupter for a different phase, while the capacitor for each phase is disposed on the inner or outer side of the associated interrupter, whereby the radial and axial dimensions of the grounded tank can be reduced.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1991Date of Patent: March 29, 1994Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Hirohiko Yatsuzuka, Tuneo Kishi, Takashi Minakawa, Isao Nishida
