  • Patent number: 7160362
Abstract: A method of cleaning air, including a humidifying operation for humidifying the air containing chemical contaminants by a humidifier and taking a part of the gaseous contaminants in the air into excessive moisture to remove the contaminants from the air, and a dehumidifying operation for dehumidifying the humidified air by a condenser and taking the gaseous chemical contaminants remaining, without being removed, in the humidifying operation into condensed water for removal. By using an oblique honeycomb having both front and rear faces and both upper and lower faces disposed in open state, air is led from the front opening part of the oblique honeycomb and water is fed from the upper opening part thereof to one or both of the humidifier and condenser.

  • Patent number: 5698165
Abstract: An ozone filter comprising a paper carrier made of inorganic fiber and having a high porosity is disclosed. Supported by the carrier is a zeolite powder having an SiO.sub.2 /Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 molar ratio of not smaller than 15 and fine powder-like activated manganese dioxide having ozone decomposing capability. A process for producing the ozone filter is also disclosed. The ozone filter does not give off a foul smell even when used for a long period of time.

  • Patent number: 5262129
Abstract: An ozone filter for decomposing ozone in the air is disclosed. The ozone filter is composed of a carrier formed by paper made of inorganic fibers having a porosity of 70 to 95%. The carrier is impregnated with a solution of fine powder-like activated manganese dioxide dispersed in water and having a particle size of 0.3 to 50 .mu.m and a specific surface area of not less than 100 m.sup.2 /g in an amount of not less than 40 g/m.sup.2, on a dry white base of activated manganese dioxide, which is allowed to adhere to the carrier, and is then dried. The ozone filter thus produced is more active and has a longer life with a reduced pressure loss than conventional ozone filters.

  • Patent number: 4992319
Abstract: A process for fabricating an activated carbon supporting honeycomb structure is disclosed which comprises the following steps: dipping an inorganic fiber made paper in a suspension of fine particulate activated carbon and a binder or coating the suspension over the inorganic fiber made paper; drying the paper so that the activated carbon will fill the voids between the fibers in the paper; superposing sheets of the activated carbon filled paper alternately with corrugated sheets of the same paper; and bonding the individual sheets together with an adhesive to form a honeycomb structure.

  • Patent number: 4789585
Abstract: A heat transfer element for cross flow heat exchanger consists of ceramic corrugated and planar plates. A plurality of the heat transfer elements are stacked up in such a manner that the direction of corrugation in adjacent elements intersects at right angles to form a heat transfer block for cross flow heat exchanger. Concave portions of corrugation, which confront soot-blowing flow for removing soot deposited onto the heat transfer surfaces of heat transfer block, are filled with ceramic solids. Also concave portions of corrugation corresponding to the corners, which abut the packings attached when the heat transfer block is installed on a casing, are filled with ceramic solids.
