  • Patent number: 4312797
Abstract: An aqueous coating composition comprising a resin in a water-soluble or water-dispersible form as a film-forming component, said resin being a copolymer of (A) a fatty acid-modified acrylic monomer comprising the reaction product of an unsaturated fatty acid having at least two non-conjugated double bonds with a hydroxyl-containing acrylic or methacrylic ester, (B) an .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, and (C) an unsaturated monomer having a Q value, determined by the Q-e theory, of at least 0.1.

  • Patent number: 4134956
Abstract: A decorative coating layer, unified with the succulent and fragile surface of a concrete board, is formed by a method comprising laminating an inorganic and hydraulic coating material on the surface of an unhardened concrete board placed in a mold, and immediately thereafter heat-curing the thus coated concrete board. According to this method, beautifully dressed precast concrete boards can be mass-produced by a shortened process with improved efficiency of operation.

  • Patent number: 4122052
Abstract: An emulsion composition prepared by the emulsion polymerization of a polymerizable vinyl monomer in the presence of an emulsifier characterized in that the emulsifier is a neutralized copolymer of (A) a monomer prepared by being allowed at least one glycidyl ester of arcylic acid and methacrylic acid to react with at least one fatty acid of drying oil fatty acid and semi-drying oil fatty acid, (B) .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated acid and (C) an unsaturated monomer containing substantially no carboxyl group and having a Q value of at least 0.1 as determined by Q-e theory.

  • Patent number: 4073758
Abstract: An emulsion composition prepared by the emulsion polymerization of a polymerizable vinyl monomer in the presence of an emulsifier characterized in that the emusifier is a neutralized maleate, partial maleate, fumarate or partial fumarate of an addition polymerization polymer having as a side chain a drying oil fatty acid residue and/or semi-drying oil fatty acid residue linked to the main chain of the polymer by an ester bond.

  • Patent number: 3993612
Abstract: In an aqueous coating composition comprising a vinyl polymer emulsion prepared by subjecting a vinyl monomer to emulsion polymerization in an aqueous medium in the presence of maleinized polybutadiene used as a dispersion stabilizer, an improvement which is characterized in that at least one copolymer is further incorporated, said copolymer being composed of (A) at least one monomer prepared by reacting one glycidyl ester of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid with at least one fatty acid of drying oil fatty acid and semi-drying oil fatty acid, (B) at least one .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated acid and (C) at least one unsaturated monomer containing substantially no carboxyl group and having a Q value of at least 0.1 as determined by Q-e theory.
