Abstract: An automatically driven motor vehicle automatically follows a front motor vehicle while controlling an intervehicular distance up to the front motor vehicle. A speed of the following motor vehicle, and a speed of the front motor vehicle are recognized. The difference between the speed of the following motor vehicle and the speed of the front motor vehicle is compared with a predetermined value, and acceleration/deceleration correcting data to adjust an intervehicular distance between the following motor vehicle and the front motor vehicle are adjusted depending on the speed of the following motor vehicle or the speed of the front motor vehicle based on a result of comparison. The acceleration/deceleration correcting data are generated based on the speed of the front motor vehicle if the difference is smaller than the predetermined value, and the acceleration/deceleration correcting data are generated based on the speed of the following motor vehicle if the difference is greater than the predetermined value.
