  • Publication number: 20150135277
Abstract: Reputation-based trust attributes provided by network devices can be used by a truster device to gauge the trust-worthiness of a trustee device. The reputation-based attributes gathered from network devices may indicate a level of trust between those network devices and a trustee device. The truster device may then use those reputation-based attributes to determine a trust level between the truster device and the trustee device without relying on a dedicated authenticator, such as an authorization, authentication, and accounting (AAA) server. The truster device may permit the trustee device to access (or provide) a service when the determined trust level exceeds a threshold associated with that service. Reputation-based attributes may be exchanged between peers of a federated network or federated trust domain. Reputation-based attributes may also be exchanged between brokers in different federated networks/trust-domains.

  • Publication number: 20140100835
Abstract: An apparatus for modeling user behavior comprising at least one sensor for sensing a parameter, a memory, a processor coupled to the sensor and the memory, wherein the memory contains instructions that when executed by the processor cause the apparatus to collect a first data from the sensor, fuse the sensor data with a time element to obtain a context-feature, determine a first state based on the context-feature, record the first state in a state repository, wherein the state repository is configured to store a plurality of states such that the repository enables time-based pattern identification, and wherein each state corresponds to a user activity, incorporate information stored in the state repository into a behavior model, and predict an expected behavior based on the behavior model.

  • Publication number: 20080160984
Abstract: A communication system is provided that comprises a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) network coupled to a service provider network. An RFID reader of the RFID network detects an RFID tag associated with a mobile station when the mobile station is present in, or proximate to, a controlled area. The RFID network routes information associated with the RFID tag to the service provider network and, based on the information received from the RFID network, the service provider network alters a behavior of the mobile station when the mobile station is entering, exiting, or present in the controlled area.

  • Publication number: 20060129673
Abstract: A presence agent (101) receives a message with a request for a status of one or more entities. The presence agent (101) determines the status of the entities, and transmits a message with the status of the entities. Transmitting the message includes initiating a connection to a communication device (107). A watcher (103) monitors the status of the entities, and provides updated information regarding the status to the users. The watcher (103) receives a request for a status of entities, determines the status of the entities, and transmits, in response to receipt of the request, a response indicating the status. A communication device (107) transmits a message having a request for status of entities. The communication device receives, from a connection initiated by a communication network (105), a message with a status of the entities, and processes the status of the entities, in response thereto.

  • Patent number: 6766147
Abstract: An apparatus and method for compressing and compressing text based messages. A TCCB layer 114, 115 is added to a mobile device 100 and P-CSCF 102. At the sending device, the TCCB compression method is invoked to remove all redundant header information contained in a message to be transmitted. When the TCCB compression method detects that a header's contents are the same as previously sent or received for a particular sequence, the TCCB method blanks the header contents. At the receiving device, when the TCCB layer receives a message with blank header contents, the TCCB decompression method is invoked to reconstruct the header from its cache 115, 127.

  • Publication number: 20030120813
Abstract: An apparatus and method for generating compressed SIP messages from full sized SIP messages and vice versa in order to decrease call set up time in an IP based communication system. During registration of a device, the invention caches the device's static information in the core network in a “Registrar/Location Server.” Subsequently, during call set up, the device transmits its dynamic information to the SIP Agent in a compressed SIP message over an air interface. The SIP Agent retrieves the static information (from the Registrar/Location Server) along with the dynamic information in the compressed SIP message to generate a full sized SIP message. The SIP Agent forwards the full sized SIP message to a SIP Proxy, which is then transmitted to the IP system. Likewise, when a full sized SIP message is received from the IP system, the message is forwarded to the SIP Agent to generate a compressed SIP message for ultimate transmission to the device over the air interface.
