  • Publication number: 20160310033
Abstract: A novel computerized method for automatic diagnosis of clinical-neurological and/or electromyographic (needle EMG) studies is presented. The clinician—neurologist, physiatrist, physical therapist or qualified other—performs a routine clinical and/or electromyographic examination of the patient's muscles and assigns graded levels of abnormality to each one of the muscles examined. This data, usually numbers in the range of 0 to 3, is input into the program. Based on the muscles examined and their abnormality levels the program finds the minimal location(s) of nerve-damage that explains the muscle findings, i.e. a diagnosis. Several approaches and techniques that were developed and utilized in the program are described below. Also, the program will compute and suggest to the clinician the additional name(s) of the next-best-muscle(s) to study in case he/she wants to improve the study results.

  • Publication number: 20140197034
Abstract: Described herein is a novel deionization process for seawater desalination: Seawater is contained in—or streams through—a semi-rectangular ionizing-chamber, two of its facing walls are wide electrostatic charged belts that continuously move through this chamber in a loop. The ions within the seawater separate under the force of the electrostatic field, the anions adhere to the anode belt and move with it, while the cations adhere to the cathode belt and move with it. These belts unload the adhered ions in a separate compartment from which the seawater, now at higher salt concentration, is discharged; consequently, the seawater left in the first compartment loses salt (ions) as the process continues, i.e., become desalinized.

  • Patent number: 6366806
Abstract: A novel computerized method for automatic diagnosis of clinical electromyographic (EMG) studies is presented. The elecromyographer (EMGer) performs a routine EMG study and assigns graded levels of pathology to each of the muscles examine. This data is input into the program. A priori, the program computes all the possible combinations (sets) of nerve damage, translates them to all possible combinations (sets) of muscle damage. Once the data is input, the program checks the input against all these muscle-sets for goodness of fit. Once the muscle-sets that best fit the EMGer's input are found, they are translated to the nerve-sets that produced them. Among the latter, only the nerve-sets that include the minimum number of damaged nerve-segments are retained and output as the best explanation for the EMGer's findings—the diagnosis.
