  • Patent number: 4966742
Abstract: Thin, free-standing ceramic precursor tapes are prepared from solutions comprising certain coordination complexes, thus eliminating the use of ceramic powders. The precursor tapes can be calcined to form thin ceramic sheets useful in electronic applications.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 20, 1985
Date of Patent: October 30, 1990
Inventors: Issam A. Khoury, Robert H. Heistand, II, Iwao Kohatsu
  • Patent number: 4929575
Abstract: A melt processable, green ceramic precursor powder is prepared from a solution containing a melt processable organic polymer and a polyahl coordination complex. The powder may be melt processed, as in extrusion, hot pressing, or injection molding, to form preceramic greenware useful in electronics applications.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 21, 1988
Date of Patent: May 29, 1990
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Issam A. Khoury, Horst G. Langer
  • Patent number: 4816072
Abstract: A process is described for the preparation of a ceramic green body by hydrolyzing at least one alkoxide selected from each of two specified groups to form a dispersion of their reaction product, concentrating the dispersion to a sediment without drying it, and admixing a binder and a plasticizer with the sediment to make a ceramic slip formulation. A release agent can optionally be admixed. The slip formulation is then cast as a ceramic green body. The proportions of alkoxides can be adjusted, as desired, to produce a ceramic green body which is dielectric and useful for microcapacitors or as a conductor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 1, 1987
Date of Patent: March 28, 1989
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: A. Dale Harley, Larwrence G. Duquette, Issam A. Khoury, Iwao Kohatsu
  • Patent number: 4752857
Abstract: An improved, flexible, strong, thin precursor green tape for dielectric ceramics is described. The tape is prepared from a cellulosic resin of specific characteristics. The tape is especially useful in the preparation of multilayer capacitors and related electronic devices.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 19, 1986
Date of Patent: June 21, 1988
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
