  • Publication number: 20230230424
Abstract: Methods and systems for transmitting data from an aircraft engine. A plurality of input signals are received at a control device, during an operation of the aircraft engine, from one or more sensors of the aircraft engine, one or more actuators of the aircraft engine, or any combination of the one or more sensors and the one or more actuators. The plurality of input signals are combined, at the control device, into an output signal indicative of the operation of the aircraft engine. The output signal is transmitted, at the control device, to a controller located remotely from the aircraft engine.

  • Publication number: 20230083694
Abstract: There is described a method of detecting failure in an array of thermocouples connected in parallel. The method comprising: during an operation mode of the array of thermocouples, measuring a voltage V across the array of thermocouples, the voltage V associated with a temperature T; during a failure detection mode of the array of thermocouples, shunting the array of thermocouples, and measuring a shunt voltage Vs occurring across a resistive element connected in series with the array of thermocouples; comparing the shunt voltage Vs to an expected shunt voltage Vs_exp for the array of thermocouples at the temperature T; and generating a failure signal indicative of a detected failure in the array of thermocouples when the shunt voltage Vs deviates from the expected shunt voltage Vs_exp by more than a deviation threshold.

  • Publication number: 20230054919
Abstract: Methods and systems of estimating a size of a chip in engine fluid of an engine are provided. One method comprises detecting the chip at a magnetic chip detector immersed in the engine fluid, burning the chip by Joule heating using a single delivery of electric current through the chip via the first and second terminals of the magnetic chip detector, determining an amount of energy consumed to burn the chip, and estimating the size of the chip based on the amount of energy consumed to burn the chip.

  • Publication number: 20220404188
Abstract: There is provided a fluid level sensing device for monitoring a fluid level in an engine container. The fluid level sensing device comprises a floating device moveable in response to changes in the fluid level, the floating device including a magnetic element, and a sensing circuit comprising at least one solid state magnetic sensor and at least one transistor electrically connected to the at least one solid state magnetic sensor. The magnetic element is configured to activate the at least one solid state magnetic sensor when the floating device is proximate thereto, the at least one solid state magnetic sensor configured to, when activated, drive the at least one transistor to generate a sensing signal indicative of the fluid level.

  • Publication number: 20220401859
Abstract: An impending bypass switch includes a housing having a fluid inlet for admitting fluid into an interior of the housing. A piston is displaceable in the interior of the housing in response to a pressure variation of the fluid in the interior. A magnetic sensor is configured to receive a current and is fixedly mounted to the housing. A magnet is mounted to the piston to be displaced with the piston. Displacement of the magnet relative to the magnetic sensor causes a change in the current through the magnetic sensor. The change in the current is indicative of an impending bypass of a component.

  • Publication number: 20210087973
Abstract: Systems and methods for starting an engine are described herein. An electronic engine controller is configured to output a first voltage signal comprising at least one pulse when commanded to start the engine. The first voltage signal has a maximum amplitude below an igniter voltage threshold. A voltage transformer is coupled to the electronic engine controller and configured to transform the first voltage signal received from the electronic engine controller into a second voltage signal having a maximum amplitude equal to or above the igniter voltage threshold. At least one igniter is coupled to the voltage transformer and configured to ignite a fuel-air mixture in a combustor of the engine with the second voltage signal received from the voltage transformer.

  • Patent number: 7297880
Abstract: An over-travel protection device for mounting an occupant classification sensor having a deflecting member, the sensor being mounted between first and second seat mounting portions, is described. The device has a sensor plate positioned adjacent the occupant classification sensor and a spacer having a land. The spacer is positioned adjacent to the occupant classification sensor. A compliant element is located between the sensor plate and the second seat mounting portion. The land is spaced from the first mounting portion until the deflecting member deflects a predetermined amount, causing the land to abut the first seat mounting portion and thereby preventing further displacement of the deflecting member.
