  • Patent number: 8919973
Abstract: A mirror base cover for an exterior rear view mirror assembly of a motor vehicle is described, which is provided with an opening for a part on the mirror base side of an articulated connection of a base bracket, which is preferably housed in an exterior rear view mirror housing, to a mirror base, which is covered by the mirror base cover. The opening has a larger design than is necessary for the part on the mirror base side of the articulated connection. A section of the opening remaining between the edge of the opening and the part on the mirror base side of the articulated connection is closed by a mirror base cap assembly. The mirror base cap assembly consists of a mirror base cap, only partly covering the remaining section of the opening, and a seal, moulded onto the mirror base cap, overlapping a gap remaining between the mirror base cap and the edge of the opening.

  • Patent number: 8870397
Abstract: A seal of a part of an exterior rear view mirror assembly relative to a body part of a motor vehicle is described, which seal is provided for covering at least one section of a surface of a mirror base and/or a mirror base cover, which takes its bearing on the bodywork side. The seal is securely connected to the mirror base and/or mirror base cover by means of at least one connecting link. The at least one connecting link forms a hinge-like articulated connection. The hinge-like articulated connection includes at least one hinge joint axis running adjacently to the at least one surface, which takes its bearing on the bodywork side. The seal can preferably be folded about the at least one hinge-joint axis onto the section, which is at least to be covered, of the at least one surface, which takes its bearing on the bodywork side.

  • Patent number: 8602570
Abstract: An exterior rear view mirror for a motor vehicle, which exterior rear view mirror consists of at least two components which are connected to each other. At least one connection between the components includes at least one connecting arrangement, which is suitable for transfer of both transverse forces and compression forces and tractive forces, as well as transfer of moments from a first component to a second component. The connecting arrangement comprises a spring arranged on the first component, with inclined flanks, diverging at least in sections, seen from the first component, and a receiving groove, which is assigned to the spring, provided on the second component. The spring engages in the receiving groove. The spring and the receiving groove comprise a complementary, positive interlocking cross-section, at least in sections, so that the inclined flanks and the receiving groove form a rearward engagement normal to the receiving groove.
