  • Patent number: 5971682
Abstract: For correcting eccentricity of a tool chucked in a first part of an at least two-part toolholder, which first part is detachably connected via clamping means to a second part of the toolholder, which is clamped in a machine tool and rotates about an axis of rotation, setting means are provided by means of which the first part of the toolholder is displaceable relative to the second part. Radial eccentricity of the tool can thereby be corrected. Furthermore, between the first and second parts of the toolholder, two rings are disposed coaxially with, and rotatingly about, the axis of rotation. These rings have annular surfaces, one of which is inclined relative to the other at a certain angle. By mutual rotation of the two rings, the first part of the toolholder can be inclined relative to the second part, whereby an angular error of the tool can also be corrected.

  • Patent number: 5163790
Abstract: The reamer having an interchangeable cutter head and a coolant-lubricant feed (24, 25, 26, 27) supplying the cutter head from outside includes a coaxial opening (2) for receiving the cutter head, which is cylindrical. The end of the coaxial opening nearest the reamer shank (1) is provided with an outwardly opening first cone (13), the conical surface of which is provided with deepened portions (14) at three locations. The cutter-head shank (4) is cylindrical and insertable in the coaxial opening of the reamer shank until a thickening forming a second cone (12) rests against the first cone of the reamer shank. By means of a clamping bolt (8) passing through the cutter head, the second cone can be pressed into the first cone, which becomes deformed. This deformation also affects the wall of the reamer shank in the front region of the coaxial opening, whereby the cutter-head shank is likewise held. The clamping bolt can additionally be used for expanding the cutter head.

  • Patent number: 4602899
Abstract: In the known, adjustable, single-cutting-edge machine reamers having a turnable cutting plate, the adjusting and re-adjusting operations are awkward and associated with difficulties because, at least as far as adjusting is concerned, adjustments have to be made at two points, and moreover for adjusting to the set desired value it is generally necessary to proceed in a step-by-step manner, gradually working ones way up to the desired value. These problems are due to the fact that adjustment can in principle only be made in the forward direction, that is to say in the direction of increasing diameter, whereas reverse adjustment in the proper meaning of the term is not possible but can only be achieved indirectly by carrying out a new adjustment with a lower starting value and adjusting in a forward direction.

  • Patent number: 4099889
Abstract: A reamer having a tool shank and a detachable reamer head in which the shank is provided at one end with means to be engaged by the spindle of a machine tool and at the other with a sleeve defining a conical socket and the reamer head has an integral conical butt for engagement in the shank socket, the butt being detachably secured in the socket by means of a rigid force transmitting member extending lengthwise of the tool shank and connected at its ends to the reamer head butt and an axially movable screw threaded counterpiece engaged in screw threaded fashion on the shank so that rotation of the screw threaded counterpiece exerts a longitudinal force to draw the reamer head butt into and out of the conical head socket. Cooperating detent means are provided on the reamer head butt and tool shank sleeve to prevent relative rotation therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4086733
Abstract: A reamer is provided with substantially helical extending carbide-bladed teeth by forming a reamer body having roughly shaped helical teeth thereon along the front face of each tooth a groove extending rectilinearly lengthwise and obliquely to the reamer axis, inserting into each such groove a small straight carbide strip shaped to fit snugly within the groove, the height of the strip being such that its upper end projects radially, over its whole length, above the tooth end and also beyond the extended diameter of the reamer, such strip also extending obliquely of the reamer axis, and subjecting each such strip to a grinding operation in which its upper end projecting beyond the reamer diameter is first rounded off to conform to the reamer diameter and a first cutting edge is formed at the leading edge thereof, and then the end portion of the strip is separately ground to produce a main cutting edge inclined at an angle to said first cutting edge in the direction of said reamer axis.
