  • Patent number: 5435042
Abstract: A windshield wiper includes a mounting head and a retainer pivotally supported on the arm-mounting head adapted to support a wiperblade. There is provided a linkage having one end pivotally supported on either of the mounting head or the retainer, a spring is disposed between the linkage and either of the retainer or the mounting head. On the other of the retainer or the mounting head, there is provided a device for restricting range of the movement of the linkage.

  • Patent number: 4984325
Abstract: A windshield wiper including an arm head rotatably connected to a stationary part of a vehicle, a main arm rotatively supported on the arm head and having a wiper blade thereon, and a sub-arm supporting a wing and being rotatively supported on the arm head. The axis of the rotative movement of the sub-arm and that of the main arm make an acute angle therebetween whereby a part of the air force acting on the wing is transmitted to the main arm as determined by a partial force defined by the acute angle.

  • Patent number: 4967438
Abstract: A windshield wiper of the type including a wiper arm having a U-shaped tip end, a wiper blade having a primary lever which has spaced parallel side walls on the lengthwise central portion and a pin extending between the side walls, and a connecting member for connecting the wiper arm with the primary lever and including a main body having a generally U-shaped outer surface corresponding to the U-shaped tip end of the wiper arm, a generally cylindrical bore for rotatably engaging with the pin of the primary lever, and flange portions for slidably engaging with the side walls of the primary lever. The connecting member is formed of two halves being split along a plane perpendicular to the pin of the primary lever, and the flange portions of respective halves for slidably engaging with the side walls of the primary lever are projecting toward side walls of the primary lever at the opposite ends in the lengthwise direction of the primary lever as compared with the lengthwise central portions.

  • Patent number: 4907315
Abstract: A wiper arm device of the kind including a rotatable arm head connected to a wiper motor, a retainer rockingly connected to the arm head through a hinge pin, a spring with one end connected to the retainer and the other end connected to a roller pin, and a link supporting the roller pin and being rockable around a pivot shaft which is mounted on the arm head. The link can be forcibly displaced in response to the movement of the wiper arm from the rock-back condition toward the normal operating condition.

  • Patent number: 4807326
Abstract: A backing member of a wiperblade of a windshield wiper and comprising two elongated body elements extending parallel at a spaced apart relationship and extending substantially along the entire length of a blade rubber to which the backing member is mounted, a plurality of bridge portions being spaced apart in the longitudinal direction of the backing member and connecting the body elements, the space between the body elements being adapted to receive a neck portion of the blade rubber, the bridge portions extending in the sidewise direction and above the body elements so as to define a space above the body elements for receiving a head portion of the blade rubber, and two longitudinally spaced apart pivot connections for connecting with a yoke member of the wiper. At least one of the pivot connections is adapted to permit relative longitudinal displacement of corresponding pivot connection of the yoke member. The curvature and the rigidity of the backing member are changed in the longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 4800610
Abstract: A windshield wiper includes an arm head connected to a driving motor and rotatably connected to a pivot shaft, and a wiper arm supported on the arm head and connected to a wiper blade. The arm head has a first head portion rotatably supported on the pivot shaft, and a second head portion connected to the first head portion and rotatable around an axis which is generally perpendicular to the axis of the pivot shaft. A mechanism is provided for rotating the second head portion with respect to the first head portion in response to the rotation of the first head portion around the pivot shaft.

  • Patent number: 4788736
Abstract: A yoke member connecting device for use in a windshield wiper, which device pivotally connects a first and a second yoke members of the windshield wiper through a pivot pin. The first and second yoke members respectively have spaced side walls having aligned openings for passing through the pivot pin, and there is provided a spacer member having side walls interposed respectively between side walls of the first and second yoke members. At least one side wall of the spacer member has a small diameter bore corresponding to an intermediate small diameter portion of the pivot pin, a first cutout extending in a first direction from the bore, and a second cutout spaced from the first cutout in a second direction which is perpendicular to the first direction and extending parallel to the first cutout.
