  • Patent number: 8728809
Abstract: Stem cells are proliferated with the application of acoustic pressure waves, including cambium cells of periosteum treated in-vivo with acoustic pressure waves. Following harvesting and viability assessment of in-vivo or in-vitro proliferated stem cells, acoustic pressure waves are applied to enhance in-vivo or in-vitro differentiation either before or after implantation of the stems cells to an organism. Acoustic pressure waves also stimulate an implantation site to enhance viability and to grow desired tissue.

  • Publication number: 20070179586
Abstract: In a delivery catheter, first and second pods cover one or more prosthetic implants located around a central core, and are connected with one another to move as a unit and to present a continuous outer surface. Two independent release links, each extending from a proximal region of the delivery catheter to an interface with the first and second pods, respectively, and operative to displace the first and second pod, respectively. Applying tension to the release links releases the associated pod, either by displacing it from over the implant or rupturing the exterior of the pod. A user-operable handle at a proximal end of the delivery catheter can activate either or both independent release links. Also provided according to the present invention is a method for the deployment of a prosthetic implant.

  • Publication number: 20070156224
Abstract: A handle system of a delivery catheter for the deployment of prosthetic implants includes a first stationary portion, at least one guide rail secured to the first stationary portion and extending generally longitudinally with the handle system, and a generally cylindrical second rotating portion rotably connected to the first stationary portion. A sheath mount is secured to an outer sheath of the delivery catheter, and includes one or more bearing surfaces to engage with at least one of the one or more guide rails. Rotation of the second rotating portion longitudinally displaces the sheath mount by interaction with the sheath mount. Interaction may be by internal thread of the rotating portion and external thread of the sheath mount, or alternately by rotating one or more drive screws by turning the rotating portion, the drive screws interacting with through holes in the sheath mount configured to receive and engage the drive screws.

  • Publication number: 20050054994
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for obtaining a sample in vivo and/or treating a subject include positioning an elongated transurethral catheter in the prostatic urethra of a subject, the catheter having a bladder anchoring balloon, at least one biosample entry port disposed axially away from the bladder anchoring balloon, and an axially extending biosample flow channel in fluid communication with the biosample entry port held internally in the catheter. The anchoring balloon is inflated to position the catheter so that the fluid entry port is proximate the prostatic urethra of the subject and prostatic fluid is suctioned from the prostatic urethra into the biosample entry port and into the biosample flow channel. The catheter can include a thermal treatment balloon and/or dilatation balloon and the suctioned sample can be obtained concurrently with, during, or proximate in time to the applied treatment.
