  • Patent number: 6090269
Abstract: A highly sensitive assay for the determination of Cr(VI), in the presence of Cr(III) and in the presence of other cations by cyclic voltammetry. The determination is carried out with a gold or gold-plated electrode with a self-assembled monolayer of a pyridine derivative of the kind of 4-(2-ethanethiol) pyridine. Determinations can be affected at extremly low levels of the order of 1 ppt (part per trillion 10.sup.12).
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 18, 2000
Assignee: Yissum Research Development Company of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem
    Inventors: Daniel Mandler, Iva Turyan
  • Patent number: 5385708
Abstract: A highly specific and sensitive electrode for the determination of ultra-low levels of mercury and an analytical system based on such electrode. The electrode is a glassy carbon electrode spin-coated with a monolayer of a highly sensitive reagent for the detection of mercury. The analytical method based on the use of this type of electrode is a voltammetric method. Concentrations of the order of as low as about 2.10.sup.-12 Moles mercury can be detected and measured. The reagent is 4,7,13,16,21,24-hexaoxa-1,10-diazabicyclo-[8.8.8]hexacosane.
