  • Patent number: 4488938
Abstract: The thicknesses of metallic coatings on a surface is coulometrically measured employing a probe for storing electrolyte solution provided with a power supply and indicating and controlling circuits. The probe comprises a cylinder defining a chamber for storage of electrolyte and having at one end a nozzle of capillary size surrounded by a gasket or cuff adapted to be placed in abutment against the surface to be tested. The opposite end of the cylinder is connected to a source of oscillating pressure which imposes on the electrolyte a corresponding movement against the working surface.
