Abstract: A goalie skate having a skate boot comprising a thermoformed outer shell with a sole and an ankle portion for receiving the ankle of the foot, the ankle portion comprising medial and lateral sides for facing the medial and lateral malleoli respectively, the medial side comprising an upper edge that is a first distance away from the sole and the lateral side comprising an upper edge that is a second distance away from the sole, the first distance being greater than the second distance. By having a goalie skate boot that has the lateral upper edge located below the medial upper edge, the lateral outward flexion of the foot is eased when the goalie skate is in an angled position. The invention also relates to a goalie skate with a skate boot comprising an outer shell that is thermoformed such that it comprises an integrated toe portion, thereby eliminating the traditional toe cap.

Abstract: A blade holder for holding an ice skate blade and for attachment to a skate boot. The blade holder comprises a body having a top portion for attachment to a skate boot and a bottom portion for receiving an ice skate blade. The body is at least partly made of clear material and defines a cavity. The blade holder also comprises a graphical element inside the cavity and visible through the clear material. An ice skate comprising such a blade holder and a method of customizing the appearance of the blade holder are also provided.

Abstract: A lasted footwear for enclosing a human foot having a heel, an ankle and medial and lateral sides. The footwear comprises an outer shell for receiving the heel, the ankle, and the medial and lateral sides of the foot. The outer shell comprises a layer of thermoformed foam comprising first and second opposite surfaces, one of the first and second opposite surfaces being heat-treated.

Abstract: A skate boot for enclosing a human foot having a forefoot and a front ankle portion. The skate boot has a tongue comprising a first section and a second section. The first section covers the forefoot of the foot and the second section is connected to the first section via a flexing zone that enables the second section to be movable in relation to the first section between a first position and a second position. In the first position the second section covers a portion of the front ankle portion of the foot, and in the second position, the second section overlaps a portion of the first section.

Abstract: A method of making a lasted skate boot comprising providing a pre-cut sheet of thermoformable synthetic material; and thermoforming the sheet of synthetic thermoformable material to form an outer shell comprising a heel counter for receiving the heel of the foot; an ankle portion for receiving the ankle; and medial and lateral quarters for receiving the medial and lateral sides of the foot respectively, the medial and lateral quarters extending forwardly from the heel counter and the ankle portion. The ankle portion is thermoformed such that it comprises an upper part and a lower part that projects outwardly with relation to the upper part, the lower part merging with the heel counter, the upper part following the upper part of the Achilles tendon and the lower part following the lower part of the Achilles tendon.

Each of the reinforcing elements comprises a ridge formed on one of the inner or outer surface of the outer shell and a groove registering with the ridge, the groove being formed on one of the inner or outer surface of the outer shell. The outer shell may also comprise an ankle portion having an upper part and a lower part that projects outwardly with relation to the upper part, the lower part merging with the heel counter. The lower and upper parts of the ankle portion follow the rear profile of the Achilles tendon.
