  • Patent number: 9176030
Abstract: A substrate is provided, which comprises a structured surface including a regular pattern of a plurality of elevated structures that are elevated with respect to a nominal surface of the substrate, wherein at least two dimensions are between 1 nm and 100 ?m, the structured surface being configured to stimulate smooth crystallization of microcrystals or to boost hydrophobic properties. A target plate comprising a plurality of substrates is disclosed as well.

  • Patent number: 8470258
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate a surface-structured device for life-sciences and a life-science method applying the surface-structured device. The surface-structured device has a substrate with a frontside surface corresponding to a first surface; and a plurality of protrusions arranged on the frontside surface. A shortest dimension of the protrusions at the junction from the protrusion to the front-side surface is smaller than 250 nm and at least a first group of the plurality of protrusions is arranged on a first planar area of the frontside surface in a first regular pattern in a plane of the first planar area of the frontside surface. Further embodiments relate to a stamper which may be used in the manufacturing method of the surface-structured device and a manufacturing method for surface-structured device.

  • Patent number: 4542747
Abstract: An ultrasonic applicator for biopsy which includes a carrying body formed from two extended partial bodies (4, 6). Each partial body has a guide groove (8, 10) introduced in one side. On the surface (12, 14) of each partial body (4, 6), a group (16, 20) of ultrasonic transducer elements is arranged. The two partial bodies can be positioned with respect to one another in such a manner that in a closed position the guide grooves (8, 10) form the guide channel (38) that serves to receive a biopsy needle (37). This lengthwise division of the applicator is advantageous because the row of transducer elements (16, 20) has no gap in the area of the guide channel (38) and when the applicator has both partial bodies in the open position it can be removed, leaving the biopsy needle in place. The partial bodies (4, 6) can be connected with one another in such a way that they can either swivel or be easily removed from one another.
