  • Patent number: 4637476
Abstract: A percussive action machine includes a housing in which a hammer is movably secured to define a forward stroke chamber and a return stroke chamber. The hammer is provided with an air-distributor fashioned as a sleeve having holes. The hammer is further provided with a device for alternately communicating the return stroke chamber with the forward stroke chamber and with the outside, the device having the form of at least one bore arranged inside the hammer in line with its axis. Communicating with this bore is a tubular control valve extending through the forward stroke chamber and having in its wall at least one hole wherethrough the return stroke chamber alternately communicates with the forward stroke chamber and with the outside.

  • Patent number: 4285189
Abstract: The herein-proposed harvester is intended largely for tobacco harvesting by the leaf picking, and comprises a self-propelled chassis which carries a conveyer for holding the tobacco stalk in a vertical position, a leaf stripper situated below said conveyer, and a means for withdrawing the severed tobacco leaves, located under the leaf stripper. The leaf stripper is made as a row of parallel drums the shaft of each of which carries augers and brushes, the diameter of the drum with the brushes exceeding the diameter of the drum auger. The auger is made fast on the drum shaft through bushes which are adjustably mounted on the shaft so as to control the angle of the auger helix, whereas the drums allow their angle to the horizontal and the angularity therebetween to be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 4230191
Abstract: A machine for making underground excavations by compacting soil comprises an eccentric shaft having journals on which there are mounted for a free rotation in a sequence, beginning from the front end, a conical member and tapered rolls forming in combination a conically expanding body. The eccentric shaft is coupled to a drive for rotation. The conical member has a through longitudinal diffuser passage, and the eccentric shaft also has a through longitudinal diffuser passage of a cross-sectional area enlarging in the direction away from the face of the excavation being made. The cross-sectional area of the passage of the conical member is smaller than the smallest cross-sectional area of the passage of the eccentric shaft by an amount such that the inside cross-sectional area of the passage of the conical member is substantially within the limits of the inside cross-sectional area of the passage of the eccentric shaft.
