  • Publication number: 20220296830
Abstract: Medical gas or airborne contaminants can be evacuated from a vicinity of a face of a patient using an intake duct defining an intake opening at a single intake location. The single intake opening is supported offset to one side of a face of the patient and an exhaust flow is applied at a flow rate of greater than 200 cubic feet per minute such that a single flow is drawn across the face of the user and into the intake duct. By drawing from only one side of the face of the patient with the prescribed flow rate, the velocity of gases and airborne contaminants flowing towards the intake duct can exceed the forward momentum of gases and/or contaminants expelled by the patient so as to capture substantially all medical gases and/or contaminants in the vicinity of the face of the patient.

  • Publication number: 20070044794
Abstract: A ventilation system (10) ventilates surrounding waste gases or bio-contaminants and the like exhaled from a patient or dissipated nearby in the vicinity of the face of the patient. The system generally comprises an envelope (20) having breathable surface portions (40) for collecting gases therethrough into a hollow interior (28) of the envelope. A suction port (30) coupled to the envelope collects the gases from the hollow interior for removal by a suction device (16). The use of an envelope having breathable surface portions which is at least partly flexible permits the system to be readily applied to a patient by simply placing the envelope under the head of the patient like a pillow.

  • Patent number: 6584665
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for separating an internal filtering component from an outer casing of an internal combustion type oil or fuel filter. The apparatus includes a holder having an opening extending therethrough and a peripheral support about the opening upon which the filter is supported with an open end of the casing in alignment with the opening of the holder. A rigid ram rod is penetrated into the capped end of the casing and subsequently punched through the casing to punch the internal filtering component out through the open end of the casing.

  • Patent number: 5513632
Abstract: A downdraft system is used for withdrawing and collecting medical gases, fumes, mists and particulates from the vicinity of a patient's face. Two intakes are located on respective sides of the patient's face, at the cheeks. The intakes extend from temple to chin. They are connected through a ducting system to a source of vacuum for collecting the medical gases. The ducting system is configured to allow the adjustment of the intake positions. The intakes create a flow of air across the patient's face from above the nose to below the mouth so that gases leaking during administration of gases or exhaled by the patient, and fumes, mists or low velocity particulates generated, for example, in orthodontic procedures are captured in the flow across the patient's face into the intakes.
