Patent number: 11733712Abstract: Methods and systems for generating a vertical situation display for a noise abatement departure procedure (NADP). Other NADP relevant displays are also disclosed including display of NADP parameters on altitude tape and primary flight displays, an NADP bug on an engine display and NADP status annunciations. The methods and systems include receiving NADP parameters entered into a flight management system (FMS) on a user interface of the aircraft system. The NADP parameters include: an initial altitude at which take-off thrust should be reduced to NADP thrust, an acceleration altitude at which the aircraft should begin accelerating to a final take-off speed whilst maintaining the NADP thrust, a climb excitement altitude at which a speed target is changed to the final take-off speed whilst maintaining the NADP thrust, and an end altitude at which the NADP should be exited.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2020Date of Patent: August 22, 2023Assignee: HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: Saravanakumar Gurusamy, Kantha Chikkegowda, Ivan Wyatt

Publication number: 20070085707Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for displaying a Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI) in which the track is projected along a forward direction, and the heading is displayed in a heading indicator that translates around the periphery of the compass card of the HSI, depending on the heading. The track is displayed at the 12:00 position of the compass card, which refers to the forward direction. The heading indicator includes a numerical display and an arrow, which points toward the center of the compass card. By displaying the HSI so that the track is at the 12:00 position, the pilot may guide the airplane along a ground track without having to mentally convert heading into track, thereby relieving the burden on the pilot.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 14, 2005Publication date: April 19, 2007Applicant: Honeywell International Inc.Inventor: Ivan Wyatt
