  • Publication number: 20200325865
Abstract: Valve assembly comprising: a valve body with an inlet and an outlet; a valve needle in the valve body preventing fluid flow through the outlet when closed and permitting the flow otherwise; a retaining element connected to the needle, extending radially and remote from the fluid outlet; and an electro-magnetic actuator to actuate the valve needle. The electro-magnetic actuator unit comprises an armature movable relative to the valve body. The armature defines a central axial opening through which the valve needle extends and slides on the valve needle. The retaining element limits the axial displacement of the armature. The armature comprises at least one axial slot arranged adjacent to and connected with the central axial opening, extending through the armature in the axial direction. The retaining element projects beyond the central axial opening and the axial slot projects beyond the retaining element in the radial outward direction.

  • Patent number: 10570862
Abstract: A valve assembly may include: a valve body with a longitudinal axis and a cavity; a valve needle; and a driving device for displacing the valve needle. In some embodiments, the valve needle comprises a disc element. The disc element and the driving device comprise mutually facing and radially extending coupling surfaces, the coupling surfaces having an overlapping area of at least 35% of the cross-sectional area of the cavity. The driving device takes the disc element with it for displacing the valve needle in the opening direction solely by means of hydraulic interaction between the coupling surfaces when the driving device is displaced in the opening direction. The coupling surface of the driving device engages in a form-fit connection with the coupling surface of the disc element for pushing the valve needle towards the closing position.

Some embodiments include an injector comprising: a valve with a valve body and a valve needle; an armature mechanically coupled to the valve needle for moving the valve needle away from a closing position; and a damping element. The valve needle moves in the valve body and seals the valve. The armature displaces the valve needle away from the closing position. The damping element comprises: a hydraulic chamber and a piston arranged to modify a fluid volume of the hydraulic chamber. The piston reduces the fluid volume of the hydraulic chamber when the valve needle moves away from the closing position. • Patent number: 9765738
Abstract: A fuel injector includes a fuel valve with a valve seat and a movable valve needle, a calibration spring and an electromagnetic actuator with a solenoid and a movable armature. The calibration spring exerts a pressing force on the valve needle for pressing the valve needle in a closing direction towards the valve seat. When the solenoid is electrically energized, the electromagnetic actuator is operable to transfer a lifting force to the valve needle by engagement with the armature for lifting the valve needle from the valve seat to a fully open position against the pressing force of the calibration spring. The calibration spring and the electromagnetic actuator are configured such that the lifting force equals the pressing force in the fully open position.
